I had XM a few yrs back, but dumped it after trying Pandora. I'm usually not anywhere I don't have wifi or cell data, so for $36/yr, it works for me.
I guess I'm just at a different time in my life than I was in the past. The DRM thing used to really get to me, but maybe I'm just not as involved so I no longer care.:)
That's where I'm at. Once upon a time I thought I'd build a neighborhood movie-sharing vault. Now it's just easier to pay a few bucks to stream that movie that I watch every once in a while instead of the thought of maintaining terabytes of static data, or data that we'd have to pay to add to it.
I agree. Here's my company's situation - mfg environment, sounds very similar to OP's:
80 employees, 40 desktops, 7 physical servers, 3 virtual servers + a commercial SAN. We're a Windows shop with Exchange 2007. In-house ERP - not as many (15?) customizations, but we have about 20 custom apps that integrate with ERP as well.
Send or post a short note each day where your supervisor can/will read it -
* What I finished - accomplishments, problems solved
* What's coming up - milestones, issues or possible stumbling blocks
That'll keep him in the loop and any conversations can be spurred from there.
After having my frame fail on me - top tube and down tube welds broke away from stem - you won't see me without a helmet. I was knocked unconscious for a little while, helmet was cracked, face turned into goulash. But hey, I'm not eating from a straw and I don't drool more than I used to.
Comparing motorcycle crashes vs bicycle isn't necessarily a good comparison - 60 mph vs. 15 mph. And why would you extrapolate from that image that it's not worth it to wear a bike helmet? I took a good shot to the temple, and the helmet absorbed a lot of the impact. A broken jaw isn't quite the threat as a shot to the head.
I recommend a helmet - skull vs concrete doesn't end well.
Since when do reviews matter? Hopefully consumers are getting smarter and seeing that being shiny doesn't warrant hundreds of dollars more. I'm likely not buying one either, but the current ads showing Surface vs iPad drive the point home pretty hard, for this geek anyway.
It's funny to see people stepping up to defend their right to text and drive. When cell phones started becoming ubiquitous 15 to 20 years ago, people were aghast when they first saw someone driving AND TALKING.
Forgot one - the car broadcasts on its local network (including the cars behind it) that it is braking, and all cars in the center lane slow down uniformly.
No, but the order takes a finite amount of time to fulfill. So with a large enough operation, you *can* have a butcher cutting the number of steaks ordered each hour.
Online ordering makes scheduled ordering much easier to do. I detest shopping, so if I could have a standard order set up each week, that not only helps me, but Amazon can use that data to further their scheduling and ordering optimization while minimizing waste.

it's web-based too
It's not like he was downloading a car, sheesh.
Unfortunately, not sooner than we see a jackwagon comment making this thread political before it's political.

One lone wolf in IT.
I don't see you volunteering to pay more taxes, why should Apple? If the city is going to offer it, why in the world would they decline it?

So that's what you took from the story?

As if this is limited to Texas. Good for you though, you got your low-hanging karma.
Did all you guys miss Apollo 13? Vomit comet - there's your 15 sec shots.
You can teach them that without giving them a copy of your favorite fisting video.

Do you still think I'm pretty?

Yeah, and did you know that they regularly exceed the speed limit when they turn those red and blue lights on?! /s
The proper recourse is for people to pay attention. That typically means don't text and drive.

As long as that run is less than 100 ft: 100 ft cable for $68
I've copied his last 2 sentences for you:
Don't play partisan politics. They are both the same.
Doesn't matter who it is this time. That does nothing.
You are likely to be eaten by a grue.
Who said they wouldn't be able to provide a delivery window? The local Chinese delivery always says 45 min to an hour, shows up 20 min later.

There's a slight chance you might be overthinking this.
I bet you've never clicked on a television commercial either.
