    Microsoft's DRM is not more lenient. It is much more strict than Fair Play. I predict you will not love it.

    In court cases, it is generally not the idea to cause the entity you are suing to cease to exist. (Except maybe death penalty criminal cases which clearly the Stac patent infringement case was not.)

    I know what a Pyrrhic victory is and the case with Stac doesn't qualify in my opinion. The fact that Stac is no longer in business has nothing to do with the lawsuit.

    Just because it isn't conscious doesn't mean it is not the "main point" or "main effect" of these laws. I agree with you. Most politicians vote for things either because of political pressure, or because of bribery, greed, etc. Once in a great while, they vote their principles. However, usually the principles that they vote on are something that is so important to them that they campaigned on it, therefore they aren't going to take political damage for voting that way.

    Yes, I'm pretty cynical about politicians. I think I have good reason to be.

    You are making an assumption that this will be an adequate defence. If the GPP is in the US, don't count on it. In the US, you must Think of the Children! Once you say kiddie pr0n, then all thinking stops. Plus, the police are always right in the US. So, if they just shoot him they can say, "well maybe we saw a weapon" and that's that.
