Unfortunately Gore's strategy regarding Clinton was the worst possible choice. He alienated many Clinton supporters while at the same time, the people who were up in arms about how "immoral" Clinton was weren't the kind of folks who would even pay enough attention to recognize the fact that Gore was trying to distance himself. And let's face it, the people who were upset about Clinton getting it on wtih the intern wouldn't be voting democrat anyway.
I think it is more like the phone and electric power companies that are forced to provide service to everyone, even if they lived in a rural area. I'm sure stringing those power and phone lines out to my grandmother's mouse a few miles outside Antlers, Oklahoma didn't make the phone company any money. They still have to provide service if she wants it and they can't gouge her.
Under this proposal, she could get broadband if she wanted it. She probably doesn't want it, but she is selling her house and if a family with kids buys it, then maybe they would want broadband.
Steve Jobs was a major contributor to Clinton's 1996 re-election campaign. He also had Clinton to dinner at his house. And Al Gore is on Apple's board.
My usage has dropped drastically in the last few years, primarily due to the commercialization, ads, scams, pop-overs, etc. I realize that these people need to make money too
Not that way, they don't. There are still plenty of bridges they can sleep under. They don't need to do that shit.
If I couldn't get broadband at home, I would sell my house and buy a different one.

The software company I work for wanted to "standardize" on one hardware vendor. Now, I can reasonably suggest to management that we should "standardize" on Apple hardware for all of our development on Windows, Linux, and MacOS X.
Please read my post in the context in which it was written. Of course the developer has a copy of the source code on his laptop. And if he deletes that copy before quitting and giving me back the machine - I don't really fucking care. In fact, he's saved us the trouble of making double sure there isn't any pertinent or valuable changes to the source on the machine.
As far as I'm concerned, what you have on your computer as a developer is a "garbage copy". If I'm unsure about the state of a copy of the code, I just blow it away and and get a new copy from the repository. (Possibly saving what was there because maybe it does have some valuable changes - but I can find that out by doing a folder level Diff). I'm sure as hell doing my *real* builds on a special build machine that runs an automated script that blows away any source on there, then gets a completely fresh copy from the repository and builds it. That script should ideally scream at me if it encounters any errors at all. Those builds go to QA - not something off of my computer or any other developer's computer.
The company I currently work for uses Subversion which has been billed as the "successor" to CVS. I have to say, having used lots of products (CVS, Visual Source "Safe", Metrowerks Code Manager, Perforce, Star Team, and others), that I really like Subversion a lot. Even from the command line things are really nice and a little easier than CVS.
The real competitors for the Mac Mini are the Xbox 360 & PS3, not Media Centre.
As much as I like my Core Duo Mac Mini, and as rabid of a Mac Fanboy that I am, I fail to see how the Mac Mini competes with the PS3 or XBox 360. The Mac Mini is a general purpose computer that isn't really all that great for games. The PS/XBox are game machines. Yes, you can play DVDs on both, but that's really a stretch because there are lots of ways to play DVDs.
I'm glad to see that Australia now has the same level of freedoms as Iran, North Korea, and China.
I love the Austrailian people and I hope that the US will liberate them from their repressive government sometime soon.

Those aren't political parties. They are tired old jokes.

Morbo will now introduce the candidates:
...and Morbo's good friend Richard Nixon.
Pathetic human number one!
Pathetic human number two!
Nixon: Hello, Morbo. How's the family?
Morbo: Numerous and beligerant!
Nixon: That's good. Nixon is pro-war and pro-family!
And then the robots elect Nixon by a single vote.
{Sigh} I guess its pretty much the same way that Bush got elected.
I am inclined to agree. I think that what these people need are clean drinking water, schools, and jobs.

YOU JUST MADE RICE THE EASIEST POSSIBLE THING TO MAKE
I beg to differ. There are lots of things easier to make than rice. For example, twinkies and soda.
I'd buy it.
Spend some time in Oklahoma or Arkansas.
No thanks! I grew up in Oklahoma - currently live in New York. Won't be going back.

Requiring IE, all too often. Good thing it's integrated with the OS.
That's funny. IE isn't integrated with my OS.

For those to lazy to read the article, all 1001 inventions are bombs strapped to small children.

Especially if the enemy were small edible white dots that hover motionless in the air.
Software companies keep source code in a repository, not on some developer's laptop.
SCO would claim you have to pay them for the air you breathe because Darl McBride farted once.

WTF?
Strike the word "don't" and I think you would have a perfectly good description of Slashdot.
Now if we could only make a turkey baster that will stand up to those temperatures, we will be able to cook a turkey in .000001 seconds.
Fiend! You call me a fiend? You, who wear the uniform of your country - I wear the uniform of my country!
I did not think he was running MacOS X Server. I was merely pointing out that there is a server version of MacOS X in existence.
