After reading the original article I looked up the periodical table. I decided to find out which element officially has the highest Atomic Number. Ununbium has an atomic number of 112, but more intrestingly has a half-life of 240 microseconds.

Scientists in recent years have been searching our galaxy alone and still have not come up with one planet that could sustain life. Whether they be too hot or too cold, too many toxic gases or to undeveloped. The closest they have come is Mars, and after finding out life does not exist on Mars period, it was shot down. Not that Mars is really habitable anyways.. eg. hot, cold, etc. I will make the presumption that you are basing your conclussions that life requires Earth like conditions of temperature and air composition. Just to let you know a few facts:
    1. Oxygen (the gas we use when we breathe) is actually a posionous gas that life on earth has evolved to reley on. If oxygen is breathed at very low pressure it can kill you.
    2. Life on this planet has evolved to the appropiate temperature, which ranges from penguins and polar bears is constant freezing conditions, to certain lizards and scorpions who survive in boiling dessert conditions.
    3. The building blocks of life on this planet are Amino Acids and proteins. These can be created from methane(Carbon and Hydrogeon), Hydrogeon-Cyanide(Carbon, Hyrdrogeon and Nitrogeon), Ammonia(Nitrogeon and Hydrogeon) and Water (Hydrogeon and oxygeon) which can be found on many planets.

So what a lot of astornomers are looking for at the monent is planets, so at alter point that they can study these to see if they have the required elements to create/support any life, the chances of finding another planet with the same temperature range and air composition of earth is highly improbable.

I start pointing out mistakes and ommissions I would like to say that the film was brilliant and roll on The Two Towers and Return of the King.

Just to comment on some of the points of the original post
    1. Aragome's sword was reforged in the Fellowship of the Ring and in the Two Towers he receives the Flag/banner of Numenor from Arwen.

    3. I agree that it was confusing about what size and shape that the hobbits were meant to be. (From the books I thought that Hobbits were Fat little creatures like the dwarfs.)

    4. I think that a bit more of the history of the Gollum might have been good. I also agree that he did appear more in the books - as he was nearly captured by the elves in LothLorien.

I actually disagree about leaving Tom Bombadil story/the journy to Bree out. I know this was probably done to shorten the film, but I liked Tom and he did help the story along. I also think the story of where they got the swords from is a bit lame. They did get them in the Barrow-wight but in the film Aragome just hands them out 4 swords (will they loose there magical history in Return of the King?)

Another slight problem I had was Gandalf's sword. I thought that Gandalf's sword and sting (Bilbo and then Frodo's sword) were both Elven blades. If that was the case how come that Gandalf's sword didn't glow blue when the orcs attacked in the mines and Frodo's did? Anyway good film and can't wait for the Two Towers.

This idea of a software download site is a good one. The fee of $10 could be broke down into sections
    1) A few cents from each subscription for site maintainance and upkeep etc.
    2) the remaining money could be split between the software companies of the products you download (eg I downloaded 3 programs from XYZ Ltd and 2 from ABC Ltd then what remains of my $10 would be split in a 3:2 ratio between XYZ and ABC).
Doing it in this manner would reducce the need for multimillion dollar product launches where you have to pay people to be excited at your product (eg Microsoft) and would also cut the need for the glossy box and the cost of the CD (which is what you usually end up paying for with MS).
