It was pretty good in my 130" blu-ray home theater, but I watched it on a whim.
The PR for the movie frankly didn't really make me want to watch it. Like Walk Hard, which I consider a GREAT movie, the PR didn't make it seem like a movie I'd want to watch.
Was Watchmen really not a good movie for today, or was it just marketed poorly?
It was OK at best. Not bad, but not groundbreaking like so many people have told me. It's basically a sting/complex heist movie where some team members are hustling the mark, other team members are trying to get through some problem while the clock runs out, etc.
The dream aspect added a little, but not a really innovative film.
The problem is the definition of..."common roads, infrastructure and stuff like that..." When that includes every thing possible, yeah that's too commie for me. Morons frame the argument as "If we don't have a totalitarian state, we'll all die in some Mad Max nightmare".
How about a limited amount of government that doesn't attempt to control all aspects of your life?
Some government is good, too much is very, very bad.
No it's not. De-link insurance from jobs by getting rid of the tax benefit for companies and people. If you want insurance, go buy it, but no government distortion of the market. Healthcare is too important to have the government involved.
By the way, for all you folks that want free (fill in the blank), there are only three ways to get anything:
1. You earn it
2. Someone gives it to you of their own free will
3. Theft (Hint - Hiring the gvmt to rob someone for you is still theft)
Anyone remember IBM's TopView? I still have the floppies just because it was so bad, I hate to get rid of them. Might be worth something someday to the museum of dead end software.
>>only to find out that the republicans created the Patriot act and various laws that were started to make it feel like we were heading towards a Police state.
Actually, most of the Patriot Act was enacted by Democrats under Clinton. The Village Voice had a good article about this a few years ago. Bush merely signed into law what a Congress sent him. Stupid to be sure, but hardly a Republican only act.
>>What? The deficit is smaller under Obama than it was under Bush. This means less borrowing from creditor nations.
How is 2.7 TRILLION in addtional debt in two years smaller than under Bush?
But isn't that a good thing? The more expensive the better in terms of conservation. And the oil companies are publicly held, for the most part, meaning that teachers pensions and secretaries 401Ks benefit, right?
What's the problem here? War not so good, but profitable oil companies, good.
The Handbook of Relational Database Design, ISBN 0-201-11434-8, by Candace C. Fleming and Barbara von Halle is superb. A step by step handbook that tells you what to do and why.
This is the government attacking it's citizens over their opinions and beliefs, nearly making it an illegal act. That's fascism.
There's nothing specifically fascist about this. The same could be said for Socialist or Communist. Rather, it's generic totalitarianism.
I wish people would stop using "Fascist" for "Evil". It's only one of several evil forms of government.
Fixed it for you.
Well, you can have a kill switch or a "I'll kill you" switch. Both work well.

Citation please. Not that I don't believe it, just would like more info.
I'd be really surprised to find out that the UK was more resistant to US pressure than Sweden.
I have kids. For me to collect, they will have to become tax slaves.
If (most) everyone's income went up 16 percent, the economy wouldn't be an issue.
The dream aspect added a little, but not a really innovative film.
You got what you wanted.
Vote for a corrupt Fascist, get a corrupt Fascist. Anyone who voted for this jerk and complains is a fool.
someone here has a recognizable sig, to the effect of "I like paying taxes; with it I buy corrupt government."
There, fixed it for you.
