IIRC awhile ago everyone was saying that paypal was one of the.coms that actually had a sound business plan, and had the potential to turn a profit.
I only used them once or twice, and did shy away when they started wanted a lot of information about my banking accounts. Either way its too bad that this had to happen, after all they did provide a really nice service for people who needed to transfer money over the net, hell I would venture to say that e-bay would have not taken off as much as it did without the help of paypay. Oh well.
That would require me to actually install AOL software on my machine. Do you realize the implications of that? Your machine would never be stable again. And even if you did sign up for an account you would just get busy signials for hours...
And to think I once thought the opening scene in Ace Ventura Pet Dective was just a joke, apparently it really happens.
Anyway little UPS story for those who care. I recently ordered some stuff from buy.com who uses UPS exclusively. After about four days of waiting I tracked the package online. Its status was listed as "Could not find street address" or something like that.
"HDS got a package for ya, sounds broken, probally is, Im sure it was something nice"
Turns out that since we live in a new apartment complex UPS didnt know the addresses to each unit. I had no problem going to get the package, but the ironic thing was when I went to get it the guy at the desk told me, with a straight face mind you, that UPS automatically sends out a postcard to people whos addresses arnt valid. Now maybe Im just ahead of the game here, but if your street address isnt valid how are you going to get the postcard. I asked the UPS employee this and he just gave me a blank stare, and then with a puzzled look handed me my package...*sigh*.
While the fact that Wal-Mart is of the opinon that I should not hear bad language and therefore only sells clean versions of CD's it does not appear that they care about the content of the DVD's that they put on their shelves. The other day I was in the Wal-Mart electronics department and noticed a copy of the R rated movie American Pie, in which a kid gets his grove on with baked goods, sitting next to a copy of Shreck, the squeeky clean animated movie.
Ironic that Wal-Mart wont let me hear dirty words but I can see baked goods being humped...
Im totally dissapointed in the lack of effort put forth by the trolls of slashdot in this article. There is only one post with the words 'first post' in it, and its about the fourth post in the story. I mean whats going on, was it a rough night last night? There is no excuse for not having at least five of the first posts in an article claiming that they are in fact the first post. Come on guys, I rely on you for my morning humor while Im at work, dont let me down.
