  1. Re:Note that is hopefully obvious... on Did Humans Evolve? No, Say Americans · · Score: 1

    Fake News, Apr.19, 2182
In around 2004-2006, the human species split. The split was incidentally caused by some people's lack of understanding of the basic evolution principle. The resulting difference in brain activity levels caused the two species to stop mating with each other. As the people understanding evolution theory continued to evolve, they have become the new, more intelligent species we know today as neohumans (homo sapiens ultissimus). The others (known as believers or creationists) did not participate in the evolution process due to their own inhibiting belief.
Today, the last of the old humans died, she was a resident in the New York zoo. This form of homo sapiens (sometimes refered to as homo sapiens niente) has now become officially extinct, despite the reproduction efforts by genetic laboratories all over the world. It is commonly agreed that the ultimate reason for extinction was the failure to evolve and adapt to the changed climatic conditions.

Shouldn't be that hard to set up something that produces a few "illegal" clicks if there is danger that the customer is about to earn real money (i.e. >$100). Alternatively, it shouldn't be that hard to redefine the term "illegal click" to match your site or reinterpret clicks to be seen as "illegal" ("oh, someone clicked" --> illegal) if the offense is never verifiable. Either option sounds like shady business.

The perfect sport for a geek is orienteering http://www.us.orienteering.org/. You need to think hard while you exercise and therefore you hardly notice the physical workout. That's a different kind of challenge for mental activity, but the typical geek can usually easily cope.

Yes, it holds no more. You can only legally download if it is _not_ from an obviously illegal source. No one is telling you how to determine if the source is legal or not, so the content industries hope is that people will start considering every download illegal.

  6. Re:Different Kinds of Globalization on Defining Globalism · · Score: 1

There's just one type of globalization, it just looks different. Here's a definition based on nonlinear dynamics:
Globalization is the increasing interaction (political, economic, financial, travel, etc.) between previously separate entities (countries, companies, people, etc.).
In interacting systems, there are always ordering parameters. Capitalism is such an ordering parameter, democracy is another, communism and theocracy are, also. If there are conflicting ordering parameters, nonlinear dynamics says that one ordering parameter will enslave (their word, not mine) the entire system and will be dominant. It is possible for several ordering parameters to coexist, but as interaction (and therefore globalization) increases, fewer and fewer ordering parameters will survive, but those will be even more influencial than before. It is obvious that the ordering parameters on the verge of extinction will fight for dominance as long as possible.
Put this in perspective to recent events and it'll come into focus.
