  1. And Transparent, too? on Beer Stein Goes Hi Tech · · Score: 1

I wonder if the manufacturer of the glass could use the transparent aluminum that was just invented to make an almost-transparent model, which would be easier to market than a glass-with-a-bunch-of-wires-in-it ...?

  3. College Radio suffers... on Can Internet Radio Survive? · · Score: 1

I'm a DJ at KALX Berkeley 90.7FM, a UC Berkeley-run college radio station. Because of certian provisions in the DMCA, our Internet stream, among many other college stations' streams will be forced to shut down since we won't be able to pay the Record companies for _every_ song we have played, retroactively, since our stream first went up two years ago.. I really REALLY hate the DMCA... Check out our website http://kalx.berkeley.edu and check out the "Save Our Streams" link for more details and an online petition.

  4. downloads...erg on Old Sierra Games Breathe Anew · · Score: 1

Getting this game has been one of the most convoluted downloads I've ever done.. one of the sites is in German, and the download rate is stuck at 2.5KB per sec, despite the 100MB ethernet I have to my desktop :(

  9. fake problem? on Morpheus Hijacks Browsers For Affiliate Links · · Score: 1

sounds as bad as the problem which let morpheus users browse any file on your computer! oh wait, that was fake, too... sometimes I wonder if "The Industry" fabricates/leaks info like this to dissuade people from using such software.. of course, everythings a conspiracy and if it's posted on the Net it's true, right ? :)

  10. virtual hack on Virtual Keyboard a Reality · · Score: 1

It hasn't been long since the data-intercept-via-LED story was posted... I wonder if someone will figure out a way to determine what is being typed on the virtual keyboard by virtue of listening to the resonance of the table/boss' wife/bugblatter beast of traal and reconstructing the keyboard input. Does this seem too farfetched? Waste of time?

  11. Ports=Names? on Server Naming Conventions? · · Score: 1

I'm sure you have hostnames assigned to the ports, or at least something like that. Where I work, we have a common convention of using the room # and the port #, prefixed by the department abbreviation. Since we have three buildings covered by our network, this helps a lot when tracking down network problems. For example, in the student services building, the ports are assigned like eecs-s300k001, for the department (eecs), room (s300k), and port (001)
