If the probabilty of Intelligent civilaztions is high even as close within our galaxy then why haven't we seen any evidence of their existence. Even though I am skeptic I still crunch SETI Blocks.
As much as I accidently hit the stupid reset button on the front of my computer a Journaling file system would be great. I dont have any exp. with Bsd and was wondering How is the selection of applications for BSD? I dont need alot, A console text editor (Preferably with syntax highlighting), a Graphical Web Browser, an Mp3 player. That is about all I really use on a regular basis.
That worked out exactly the way it should have. Imagine what it would be like if you were held legally responsible for posts. On the other hand it could get rid of the post trolls on Slashdot
Unfortunitly people tend to rate on Personal reasons rather than by quality of a site. If people actually ranked it by quality it would be a very nice way of filtering all the Junk, and maybe dead links, out of search engines.
How long before that network is comprimised. In a matter of days People will probablly know what websites Mickey has been to (www.nakedmice.com) or what Mickey purchases online. (Probablly Real Dolls )
I usually get a decent speed processor PIII 800, a really fast scsi drive or raid (Depending on the site), 512MB of ram ( Or more depending on the site ), and a copy of Slackware.
Is that 4.95 to the consumer. If that is the cost to consumer think how this could wipe out DSL, Dial Up and anything else access wise. Most Semi Small cities are still charging 17.95 a month for dial up. And Dsl is upwards of 49.95 a month in these same cities.
Hopefully someday we will live in a world were everyone has the same freedom we have here in the states. I always here people around me complaining about how bad it is here, they just are uninformed of how bad some other people have it.
I think using Free Software with Proprietary software is a way to reach people who are not yet informed about Free Software. I dont think this hurts Free Software in any way, it helps promote it.
I usually ask the most active bug reporters and patchers... One of them is usually quite willing to take over the project. I think if you didn't go to them first they would be a little upset since they feel they have already made quite a bit of contributions to the project.
I think it is better to install all your programs binaries under a subdirectory, then symlink the executables to the/bin/usr/bin or/usr/local/bin directorys. This gives you a lot easier way to remove programs that don't have an uninstall script included, and Is a lot more organized.
There is finally some bluetooth devices coming out. I have been using a traditional wireless keyboard and mouse (IR) for a while and get quite a few missed keystrokes and mouse jerks. Bluetooth from what I understand is supposed to eliminate this. For those of you who dont know what bluetooth is go here.
This could save a whole lot of time if it worked correctly... I spend more time tracking down stupid errors Ive made compared to that of tracking down missing semi-colins; 8-)

Technology is part of evolution. You cannot stop, confine, or reverse technology. This is something the taliban has no chance of doing.
