i like macs. sometimes i like to go on the internet and find all sorts of cool information. i really like how macs do this. sometimes i use my mom's computer, but its a pc and its different. i cant turn it off. help me!! seriously, please email me. im on my moms computer and if she finds me on it she might yell at me. how do i turn it off? what about this button
I can't help but think what a frickin' waste of money... First by a mac that is expensive in the first place. Then throw most of it away, and buy relatively expensive PC crap for it. If you add that up and buy a faster PC (if that is what you want) with the money, I think your insanely fast system will be worth the crappier case.
"So, where's mol for Mac OS X?"
That doesn't make sense to me... Why in the world would you want mol when you still have the classic environment in Mac OS X? It was a nice try to connect Apple stuff to Slashdot's Linux Cult (SLC). Silly Pudge.
"Sounds promising."
Promising for what? Much of the good news here was generated by Red Hat, and last time I checked the Linux crowd was worried about them being a big software company like Microsoft (see the Slashdot article). Linux people are funny - if Linux did take over the computing industry, there would just be pissing over who did it and how! Time to face it - Linux people enjoy it when their OS is a little underdog... They should stop pretending to get excited when it gets more popular. It wouldn't be for the geek elite if lots of people used it...
If Linux were a person, and I could see the future in a crystal ball, I'd tell Mr. Penguin this: You fear those that have brought you far. Paranoia will be your downfall. You can't take over the world from "underground".
I'd like to suggest that Mr. Dvorak discontinue himself. I've never heard so many stupid and biased comments/suggestions from anyone over the age of 13.
This is slightly off topic from Apple's new campaign, but I think this needs to be said.
People complain that G4s are slower than current Intel/AMD offerings. I don't necessarily have an argument with Apple losing the processor speed war. But if it is true, it doesn't matter. Based on my experience using fast Intel and Apple systems, no desktop x86 OS environment has software that is as productive with the available processor power as Apple does. An Intel/AMD processor may be technically faster, but a G4 system running Mac OS X seems to accomplish more and seems quite a bit faster. That is what matters to me and most people. Tech-heads that think the computations per second are what matters most are not looking at the big picture.
And if you don't believe me about the speed of Mac OS X on a G4 system right now, give Jaguar (Mac OS X 10.2) a shot. It'll officially be out in about a month. You won't see that much of a performance increase in any update to Windows or Linux any time soon.
I actually checked my finder prefs plist file to see if the prefs were there to override. I am an idiot. In my defense, Apple does seem to do more weird stuff than any other company... And Jobs has odd reasons for hiding lots of stuff... Nope. I'm still a moron.

I think he meant: "dude, you've got a 110GHz G5"!
