"I found a bunch of Spice Girl stuff (3GB+) on my friends 'broken' hard drive he gave me... I was sorta afraid when I saw that, really makes me wonder about him..."
Off topic, but that kind of reminds me about the time I went to make tea in a friends kitchen and, while searching for the cups, discovered his collection of what must have been well over 500 old TV guides.
I was very, very scared. It kind of had a Norman Bates feel to it.
6.5.2) Time spent trying the drivers certified by MS, the official drivers from the hardware manufacturer, the generic drivers, some drivers for a similar device, and the win2k drivers (hey, they *might* work) (all day)
6.5.3) Time spent wishing you had the source code (indefinite)
I totally agree! My first computer (a ZX Spectrum 48. For those who don't remember them, they pretty much owned the UK games market throughout the 1980's and early 90's) could manage a total of seven colors on screen at one time, and only two colors per character space.
Back then, the only thing they had was gameplay and originality. Something that is sorely missed in most of todays games.
In rocks that haven't been found yet. Lack of evidence of one thing is not proof of another.
- 2) How can you explain the presence of young comets in a solar system that is supposed to be "billions" of years old? (Of course, if the SS is only a few thousand years old, comets are easy to explain.)
Do you actually know how comets are formed?
- 3) What caused the Big Bang? What happened in the first 10E-38th of a second after the Big Bang happened?
I don't know. Do you? Once again, lack of evidence of one thing is not proof of another.
- 4) How do you explain the relative thinness of the layer of dust on the Moon? It should be much deeper if the Moon is billions of years old.
Should it? Why?
- 5) How do you reconcile the perfection of Scripture with the hoaxes and embarrassments of science (i.e., Piltdown Man, Nebraska Man, Lucy, etc.)
How can you possibly compare the blind and unfounded faith of religion with the achievements of science? Prayer didn't magic that computer you're using out of thin air, you know.
- 6) How do you counter the charge that modern Information Theory (IT) renders evolution all but impossible?
The small amount I've read on Information Theory seems to be extremely naive and, for the most part, incorrect.
Only 80%?
Much lower than I suspected. There was one day I recieved 1075 spams from the same source. I kept a screen-grab as proof. ~grumble-bloody-grumble-hotmail-mutter-complain~

Wait 'til he gets hold of Indiana Jones again and ruins that for us as well.
We'll have Hariison Ford aged 90 with his Fedora and matching Zimmer frame, with his stupid voiced sidekick played by Ahmed Best.
It'll be great! Really great....
And who the hell's going to trust NASA to build nuclear powered rockets now?

It's extraordinarily *poor* evidence. Does that count?
It looks really nice, but at $6535.00 (I'll assume that's USD) isn't it a bit overpriced for a system that'll be only adequate in 6 months/1 year?
Yes, it's an extremely sweet machine but certainly not value for money.
Doesn't that mean then, that pretty much *all* of Back to the Future 3 has been in the public domain for some time?
Series 1 of Futurama is out in R4 too, I'm going to buy it when I get paid next week.
Funny, I assumed that it would've been released in R1 first, considering that's where it comes from.
They said it would be out around the end of 2002, but there's still zero evidence of it...maybe next year, eh?
I hear CHIPS also features Plutonium Energy Amplification with Fusion Reactor and Integrated Telecommunications TERminal, or PEA FRITTER...
*cough* I'll get my coat....
I was scrolling down the page specifically looking for the Eastenders joke. Thanks :)
Wow! It must have taken you all day to think those up! :)
Even Noel Coward would've been rendered speechless by your rapier-like wit.

I hate Microsoft not because of any moral high ground, but because of their shoddy products and suspect business practices.
;)
If they fairly produce a product that is useful and works well -- standing on it's own merits, then I say good luck to them.
I must say though, I'll believe a good Microsoft product when I actually see it for myself.
Thank god he didn't use Elite 4 years...
Oh come on - "Whatever You Want" wasn't that bad!
Certainly not worth having them shot!
The Guardian is legendary for typos. It's kind of a UK tradition. :)

"When I went to high-school computers still used cassette-tapes as storage devices, grrreat fun"
:)
:(
Hehe...You should've seen my nephew's face when I dug out my old ZX Spectrum 48 and started loading a game off of a cassette
"doritos"
Do they still sell the ones in the blue bag in other parts of the world?? They stopped selling them here and I miss them
"And if you'd like to try Hitchhiker's, it's playable on the web at Douglas Adams's site"
And very easy to download the zcode file if you have a look at the html source. Not that anyone would do that because it's illegal. No sir.
"If the "ease of use" of OSX is need for Linux success, then how come the OS which *already* has it hasn't kicked Windows ass in the marketplace?"
I would imagine that it is because OSX needs some pretty expensive hardware to run on. A windows box can be set up for a fraction of the cost.
"Can you disprove that there is a God? Can you disprove Creationism?"
:)
No. All anyone can do is focus their understanding where the known facts clearly point.
Can you prove there is a God? Can you disprove evolution?
Thought not.

My wife's doing a Ph.D in ecology and we have come to an understanding.
I get to fill the house with computers and cables, and she can bring in her stuff that smells of rat shit.
No problem!
