  1. Weight loss on Walk or Run: Are We Built To Be Lazy? · · Score: 1

So the best average speed for weightloss purposes is to jog between 7.2 and 10.8 km/h ?

  2. Yeah right on Columnist Fired For Reviewing Pirated Movie · · Score: 2, Insightful

Call me cynical, perhaps even paranoid, but this smells like a scripted PR move to me. It even made my government radio (ABC Local) here in Australia, with comment from a third party about how pirated movie buzz is key to blockbuster movie marketing.

  3. Gene's Shtick on Gene Simmons Blames College Kids For Music Industry Woes · · Score: 1

Gene is just promoting himself. He's is the brand. He's outspoken in order to create headlines to push his latest ventures that's all. The man is a savvy marketer.

  7. Re:One button? on The Engineer Behind Microsoft's TV Strategy · · Score: 1

Actually, my custom built Pocket PC based remote (using netremote+girder, over wifi) controls every aspect of my HTPC (including Music, PVR, TV, DVD, Photos, Guide etc) with just one button: the touchscreen :)

  8. What about volumes? on Legal Music Downloads At 35%, Soon To Pass Piracy · · Score: 1

I bet the sheer amount of music being downloaded illegally per person far exceeds the amount of music being download legally even if the number of people downloading legally is increasing.

  9. All 1/0 runs have the same probability. on Random Number Generator That Sees Into the Future · · Score: 1

If a RNG outputs either a 0 or a 1, then any combination (of any length) of these has the same probability. i.e. the chance of any given run of length n is (0.5)^n regardless of how many 0's or 1's are in the run.

  10. Brad Pitt on Top 50 DVDs · · Score: 1

Mr Pitt appears at least 3 times. Hmmm.

  11. Re:and then what? on Visual Autopsy Of An ATM Card Skimmer · · Score: 1

Of course this would be a matter for the proper authorities to deal with. My point being that if the stuff was left in place there was a better chance to catch the fraudsters. I don't know why you assumed otherwise.

  12. Trap? on Visual Autopsy Of An ATM Card Skimmer · · Score: 2, Insightful

Wouldn't have been better to leave the devices in place and stake out the fraudters. They either must be hanging around at times to receive the data remotely or else occasionally pop by to collect the memory stick? Or am I missing something?

  13. Going for the $$$ on ARIA Threatens To Sue Internet Service Providers · · Score: 2, Insightful

If you ask me this is just the first step towards some ARIA levy on the ISP's.

  16. "The Slashdot Band" on Ideas for a Recording Industry Alternative? · · Score: 1

http://www.mp3.com/camel_toe_aus Free BAND, Free ALBUM, Free SONG DOWNLOADS Totally independent Australian rock band made up of 4 I.T. workers. a.k.a. as The "/." Band ;) 'nuff said.

  17. Well, we're a band now.... on Friendships in the IT Workplace? · · Score: 1

There's a heap of musical talent in our I.T. department which means friendships are easily formed on common ground other than shoptalk.

In fact, four of us in particular formed a rock band to record and perform original music, and we have our first CD coming out in a week or two. Other than that, I guess reaching the age group of starting a family will probably mean an increase in our social get togethers with colleagues. Oh joy!

If you're interested, our band is called Camel Toe, and we formed earlier this year after an initial one off get together to play covers at a after work drinks occasion... Here's a link to all of our music for free camel_toe_aus

    Enjoy.

    Best,
    Pete
