Nope, you're pretty much right about a retrovirus. My Bio teacher came up with a really great analogy about retroviruses, HIV in particular:
Ok, say you've got eight men in a tank. These guys each have a set of blueprints. They drive their Panzer tank through the wall of the nearest Ford factory and tell the workers to make more tanks instead of those fruity Ford Taurus things. The workers construct 7 more tanks and the guys each hop into their respective tanks, driving out of the building through the walls, bringing it to the ground.
You've got the tanks as the delivery system, the men as the viral RNA, and the factory as the cell. Mind you, I may have skewed it slightly because it's been a good three months since we covered that. Oh well, it's also tired time. Heh.
Nah, I beg to differ about the ressurection of old games. Look at the NetHack article. That game's still text based and it has hordes of players. I myself just started playing and am loving it. I would definitly go back and play some of these old games. Nice to be back with them.
I want an updated Betrayal at Krondor. That is one of the greatest RPGs ever:o. I'd sell my first born (Like I'll ever have one ^_-) to have that game in all its updated glory. I can dream, can't I?
Wow, after reading your points and others, it really makes me wanna go back and give it another shot. Thanks.
What's the big deal about Nethack?

I mean, sure, it is one of the first real games for the PC (Right?) and it runs on a myriad of systems but I never got the allure of it, and I'm a RPGer myself. Can anyone say what really draws them to this game? I'd like to know.
I beta tested Steam for awhile. It's a great idea and all, but sometimes waiting for it to download isn't all that much fun. There were also some problems where the cache got corrupted (I'd assume that's fixed). I think the best part, thought, was that I got to play Counterstrike 1.4 before a lot of people. Oh, I didn't, on the flip side, mention how cool it is to be able to play without downloading patches. I guess storing the game in the cache is a small price to pay for that. For inventiveness and a great idea, I give Valve 4/5 stars. Give it a shot once you can.
Well, Death and Rebirth really doesn't replace the last two TV eps. I believe you're talking about End of Evangelion, which took the place of the final two eps. Death was a rehash of the entire series (Pretty much) and Rebirth was the first part of EoE. Anyway, Evangelion is one of those series that you can watch over and over again, and not find anything. Sometimes I find myself just thinking about parts of this series and man, it's just great. I've had a few hour convo's with my friends about it too (Just so some of you smart alecks out there don't get any ideas, these are friends in real life) and it's just great. My two cents.
Since Mandrake's site is/.'ed to high hell, a mirror list isn't accessable, and, well, not everyone who wants it frequents a mirror with mandrake. I'd recommend ftp.sunet.se. I'm the 937th person on, and still getting 120k/sec. Just thought ya might like this.
Professor Tomoe
Sigh, heh. I always hate that Gamecube = Kiddy thing, it's just annoying. Oh well, but wait for Resident Evil games (I'm not a great fan, but I'll grab one of 'em), Eternal Darkness, and Skies of Arcadia (One of the best RPGs ever.) My few cents.
Oh, and just a question, who the hell in their right mind would mod that up?! I must have forgotten the/.'ers code... Pro Linux = More Points, Pro Windows != More Points
I played this demo for a few odd hours today, and thought it was freaking spectacular. Download it, and download it now. Graphics are as good, if not better than RTCW and the maps are by far, better. Go, download. You'll thank me.
The only thing wrong with that is, well, contracts. You get forced into a two year contract, so you get the modem for free, thinking it's gonna be good. People, espically most adults I know, won't change off of it because they're in contract. Basically, once you're locked in, they figure they don't need to do anything. Sadly, not enough people switch, so the point doesn't get across.
I agree, but to support broadband, should you have to suffer with a slow and unreliable connection, waiting for the possibility of them actually getting it working right?
Oh yah, I have the cable. I even made a point of telling everyone in my area not to buy Verizon DSL, of course, someone doesn't listen and starts bitching to me about it. Heh. Optimum ONline for life.
God, Verizon is pretty much the equivilant of Microsoft now, but not as powerful. I can't stand that company, and espically the way they control the DSL in my area. Pay about 40 dollars a month for 640/90 where I can get 6000/1000 cable for 30, they really need to shape up, I'd like a nice dsl line...
Hey, it's impressive nonetheless. Being able to play a full complement of great games while riding on the bus, train, car is quite nifty. I know I'd sure like one of 'em, so many good SNES games...

Since thses cups are already out everywhere else, why don't they warm the toilet seat for those cold winter days. Or just ignore me :P
I are thinking you are greatey grammar man! ;)
Just kidding.

The Human Instrumentality Project! Heh, anyone who's seen Neon Genesis Evangelion 'll get this.

Yes, I reread the Raymond E. Feist trilogy a few weeks ago, and intend on doing it again, providing I can find the books ^_^
Nope, didn't notice that. I must say thanks for pointing it out though. I'm gonna go through RTCW a bit today and compare a bit more.
Well, I must admit, I like the new Serious Engine, from CroTeam. I'm surprised it hasn't been licenced as much, because it's pretty great.
By maps, I include just the general texture quality, reading stuff on IGN.com (I know, not firsthand, but nonetheless) and a number of other previews.

Ya see, not all nerds use Linux. I know tons of people who come to /. and use linux. Jeeze, these comments are so funny...

Or does anyone else think AMD's new naming convention is nifty. I'm getting sick of everyone bragging about their ghzs.
