Rambo II and Rambo III, I'll agree with ya (generic actioners that made him into a War Hero). Rambo I was a DRAMA (with action elements) that portrayed a man who went to Vietnam (likely normal before he left) and upon his return he was haunted by the war, paranoid and (seemingly) he no longer had any friends or family to turn to. He was a loner and the Sherrif (Brian Dennehy) tries to push him out of town because he is not wanted there (Rambo didn't actually do anything horrible to deserve it).

In America*, there is no WAY we would sit back and watch the slaughter of half-a-dozen million of our citizens (go ahead... use a japanese internment camp analogy. make yourself sound like a fool by comparing the two). This isn't school-lunch laws - if you don't stand up against something like that, you damn-well supported it.

You probably would have been a Nazi too

Really? Now I take back my comment that Nazis were all evil. I mean, if they'll let a Jew like me in, I guess they've truly been misunderstood.

Vietnam is the only war we've ever lost. (well, as close to lose as you can get). Therefore it's a tragedy. Korea was a VERY similar war: we went to an asian country to halt the spread of communism and because of that war, there is a democratic south korea. Had we "won" vietnam, there would be a democratic South Vietnam with Saigon as its capital and we wouldn't mourn it.

I think that IMDB votes are pretty accurate after a year or so. Any movie that was "good" (not AMAZING) that has a ravenous fan-base might have a rating of 7.5 for a year or so, but then eventually finds its way down to the mid-low 6's.

When Lord of the Rings: FOTR came out, it was voted like a 9.4 or something, making it the #1 movie of all time. Eventually that came down to earth and the movie now teeters in the top-10 films but The Godfather has been restored to it's pervious #1 position.

It's all relative. When a movie like The Hulk that cost nearly $100 million to make and probably another 30-40 to market, $130 million at the box office isn't so much. Then again, when a $20 million movie like The Lizzie Maguire Movie or the Spy Kids series make half as much as The Hulk or Charlie's Angels then they are actually sucesses.

But I do agree. Considering foreign markets, dvd/vhs/pay-per-view and tv-rights sales, the Hulk will in no way be a flop.

What the parent is saying is that as opposed to gambling and drinking, there is no way to "casually" do some drugs. One can casually smoke pot or even mushrooms and ecstacy, but you can't be a "social heroin user" or be a "weekend coke sniffer."

Gambling, alcohol and marijuana are all substances that can cause harm, but self-control allows 98% of the population to not let it ruin their life. In fact, most of the population that gambles/drinks have a very enjoyable time with their occational Vegas weekends and glasses of wine with dinner. But to say that ALL drugs can be taken casually is simply not true. A very small segment of the population will actually become addicted to alcohol. Nearly every single person will become physically dependent on heroin the first time they inject it.

Here's what I never "got" about paintball videogames...

Paintball is supposed to be "simulated warfare," as you have real guns, real-like forrest settings (or other settings) and you can "kill" people with accuracy and stealth and intelligence, etc - but you're not actually shooting real bullets (that would, sorta, um... kill your friends). But on a videogame, you can use real digital bullets and kill everyone because, again, it's not "real." So to me, paintball videogames is a simulation of a simulation sport! Seems kinda silly to me... like if you have videogame football that uses a nerf football and "socks" instead of tackling :)

Oh, and I seem to remember seeing "eXtreme Paintbrawl 3" at Target the other day. So obviously they made enough money off the 1st (two?)
