    that's why you evac. and who cares about trophy mansions in the forest? If you don't have a defensible zone adn build a house of the latest materials you should expect to lose it. Just as if you are in a flood zone.

    Just vac and let it burn already. If you can't suppress them it is a waste of money, if you do suppress them there will be larger fires at a later date. Save $$$ and spend it on better management.

    That was in the movie I believe. And a total cop out. People seem to be afraid of democracy. They prefer to think some one "wiser" or with an anointed right should be granted power to rule. To imagine no one is in charge blows people's minds.

    If you want to see what unfettered Capitalism does google up things such as "Child Labor", "economic and financial crises of the 1800's", and "Nigerian death squads".

    Capitalism is great if you have capital. For the rest of us it must be regulated and control as part of a mixed market economy (such as the US economy) to get the benefits of our labor.

    The Enterprise was a military fascist society with a white guy on top. The WAR types would love a government like that. Ironically the Borg were a total democracy in that every Borg had one vote. Something to consider.

    What exactly does that mean? I would think maximizing quality of life is the goal. Maximizing output may lead to poor quality of life. Sure you have for clothing, shelter, etc. but if the society a person lives is horrible then you've missed the mark. This is not to say Communism may not be the answer but rather that a hard drive to maximum output and "efficiency" might not be the right answer.

    This is just another example of stupid sloppy programming by developers who have no clue about how the real world works or have any regard for human safety. Fortunately developers are not true Engineers and so do not get sued when they kill people.
