Horse pucky. If you aren't free to share your opinion, then this isn't the United States I thought I lived in. More and more, it seems like the freedom of speech is directly related to how much money you have.
This isn't the United States you live in. This is New Zealand.
MS recognized NZ years ago.
I've run an MS free zone at home for about 5 years now but before then I'm sure I recall seeing "English (NZ)" as a language option in MS Office...
Ajax asyncronously calls JAVA functions without needing a page redraw.
Wrong.
Uh... you fail to explain how this statement is wrong. It is in fact correct, unless you're telling me that Ajax can't asynchronously call server-side java code.
Just because you're on the internet, doesn't mean you get to be a pompous ass.
The emphasis was put on the word JAVA. I also read it as the commenter thinking server side Java was the only option.
Is it just me or do others out there grab these before thy hit the big screen just to vet them? I'd rather watch a rough copy or screener to see if it's worth paying good cash for.
I do the same with TV and music also. I have the latest NIN and Garbage albums but downloaded them first. Saw the first few episodes of 4400 and Firefly and picked up the DVD's the following weekend.
Normally I wouldn't have bothered but knowing what I'm buying/paying for first is worth it IMNSOHO. In these cases piracy is actually making the studios money.
For a tech orientated company these would all be valid points. However, the vast majority of companies don't fall into this category. They're going to want something that they can double click on to install and have it just work. From what I gather Skype does this. I think this is the major pull for Joe Average end user and when you get down to it small companies aren't single entities. They're a collection of end users.
I get the same results as killjoe.
The other thing that comes to mind;
If they want their link up there why don't they just pay for the AdWords (and/or Yahoo equiv.) on the search terms. It's not like they cost that much.
"I would like to see a shift to P2P IM clients where there is no server."
It probably wouldn't be that hard. P2P is well established and understood. Tack on the tracker concept used by bittorrent and you could build your community around the tracker. Each client could subscribe to multiple trackers which would allow for connections to communities on other trackers...
How to handle addressing though? Jabber manages it via username@server and the other networks are based around a centralized datebase of usernames or id numbers.
I guess the trackers are going to be on a server somewhere. It's going to have a domain so this should be usable. A quick search of the local P2P space should show up and other trackers on the same server. You could still use the username@server addressing system.
The fact you refer to it as a singular "video" suggests to me that you don't have a clue what these so called dorks are on about.
A lot of editing and touch ups went into some of the videos. Some of them look great.
Some people make the StarWars Kid out to be a victim. I heard he scored pretty well out of the generosity of strangers. The problem is I have no first hand reports on what he felt/feels about the whole thing.
If anyone does have links of this nature please post them.
Personally I'd have have given your response +1 Funny.:)
I few things though.
1. I don't like proto-people. 2. I replied like this because I thought the response was funny. Why people modded Insightful I'll never understand. 3. We're all different. Get over it. 4. What is that chip on your shoulder? 5. If you want your opinion to count for anything you shouldn't post as an Anonymous Coward.

Vigilante justice is not the answer.
That is, of course, your personal opinion. Some would agree with you, others wouldn't.
I mean, you've got this freakin' gun that can telekinetically heft and fling oil drums over great distances, but you've still gotta worry about flashlight batteries?
What you don't realise is that the actual "gun" is the size of a watch fob. That great big thing you see on screen _is_ the battery for the gun.
If "The web browser is simply a window on money-making backends" as you say then for those that have tried it I guess the Firefox team have build a better window...
I'm amazed noone has responded with RTFA.
Not everyone needs to upgrade their hardware though...

I'd love to know when that happened.
I'll need a few things;
After that's done I think I'll disband the govt.
...the oil right?
...is going have to upskill her cracking skills for any future movies I guess.

I noticed this too. I'm amazed no one else had commented on it either. I was expecting that to be the first post.

I think the point here is the "there is no server" bit. Jabber's great but but a P2P IM network would be cool :)
There are other Cert providers. I'm surprised no one hasn't mentioned CACert yet.
Maybe they should. I'd have purchased tickets at this point if they were available.
Just don't point that thing at my planet...

The U.S started doing this 20 years ago. We only found out now. So, by the USSR model, it should be collapsing anytime now.
Well... Just over half of you did vote for the wrong guy...
They want to be like all of their friends.
Shoot them now.
