Similarly, it's illegal to record a telephone conversation without telling all parties on the line that it's being recorded. I think that's federal law.

That may be the case in the USA, although I believe your mistaking. In Canada the law for recording voice calls is that as long as one of the parties are aware of the recording it is legal. IE. I can record all my calls as long as I'm the one using my phone or put a warning on the handset of my phone stating all calls are recorded.

It sounds like everyone is missing some key points here. Personally where I live, just because someone drinks underage, does not mean they drink and drive. Furthermore, here in Ontario drinking and driveing for under 21 year olds has decreased more rapidly then any other age group, and has been on a decline for the past 6? 7? 8? years.

Anything that can help seperate the two, is fine by me... I've been hit by a drunk driver, and frankly it sucked and he was almost 40years old. Btw I don't consider 1 beer drinking and driveing, and I'd also like to point out that everyone handles alcohol differently, and that weight, tolerance, time, amount of food in the stomach, etc.. all effect this. So I can safely say that 1 beer does not affect me, SO long as I've eaten properly all day. Anyways, just my $0.02.

Frankly if I miss a show or it happens to not be aired because of for example a 'government speech' or something along those lines, I have 100% the right to download it as fair use. After all I'm paying for the content monthly.
    2) I shouldn't have to go buy a dvd to watch it, after all, I've paid for it once, I should not HAVE to pay for it again.

    Music:
    1) I pay piracy tax on all media disc, and every other gadget related to media storage these days. 2) If I'm paying for it, why should I pay again?? 3) Why can't I download a song or two and find out if a CD is worth the $15+ CAD they want to charge me for it?? 4) The copyright laws on things like music and movies needs to be set to a couple of years, so if people really want to see it, they will pay, if they don't really care, they will wait. 5) What the hell, this argument is so old and frustrating... now wants to pay $15/CD.. what a friken rip off.

I also don't want to spend $50 or $100 or whatever to buy the seasons on DVD (long after they already aired and too late to keep up with the new episodes anyway). Especially when I already pay for HBO to start with! So, the only way to catch up has been to download episodes from bit torrent, watch them all, then start watching the series on TV. I don't see a problem with this. So, the studios are selling the shows you want to watch for $100 a season, but you are downloading them from a website for free instead. You don't see the problem with that? DVD releases of television shows are a huge cash-cow for studios that have already made their money in their initial runs.. you're screwing them out of pure profit by "stealing" the shows from the Internet. A more legit way would be to get Netflix and get the shows from there instead to catch up.
You're kidding right? I pay $100 + tax for internet and cable television. If I have hockey, or work, or some other activity and miss a scheduled program, I sure as hell have a right to download it and watch it. I should have to wait, a couple of years, and pay $100 for a box or dvd set, when I've already paid over $600+ a year for cable television in the first place. Just because I forgot to Tape it, or have neglected to buy a TV-IN card for my computer doesn't mean I don't have the right to watch TV content that I've already paid to watch and missed it due to whatever.

It's people like you that push coporate agenda, honestly... paying $600+ a year for cable TV, * 10 years... yes thats a lot of f***ing money and I'm not about to go waste $100 to catch a few shows I missed. If I like a series (aka family guy) I will purchase the DVD's after, but to pay $100 to catch a few missed episodes about a series I'm perhaps interested in.... what a JOKE!

(Hence this operator, or a boss at the local 7-11, or whatever). The fact that this moderator was abusing his title and used it to build a relationship with this girl is un-ethical. That said, there is nothing wrong with a 23year old man and a 17 year old woman having a sexual relationship. Providing the woman or the man (whomever is younger) is not in a position where the person may be in an athoritative position and apply pressure on said individual. Oh and to that individual that said the "US" agrees that 15 year old's shouldn't be having sex, is speaking for him or herself only. (That's not my point though) My point is there not saying having sex with your girlfriend or boyfriend who happens to be 17 is illegal (well in the states it is but that aside) what they're saying is that pornography (videos/photos) of people under the age of (16 in UK and ) 18 almost everywhere else I can think of is illegal and child porn. The US can do it in CARS alone, develope more eco friendly cars and do the following: Drive less by taking public transit, car-pooling, walking or biking, and tele-working. If you drive 20,000 kilometres a year, reducing your annual distance by 2000 kilometres or 10% will reduce your GHG emissions by half a tonne or more, plus you'll save money and help give us cleaner air. Drive smarter. Try combining your errands, working flexible hours to avoid rush hour traffic, and using ethanol blended gasoline. Don't idle. Idling for 10 minutes a day can produce about a quarter tonne of CO2 emissions each year and cost you about $70 in wasted fuel. When buying a new vehicle, choose a fuel-efficient one. Switching from a sports utility vehicle to a mid-sized sedan will reduce your GHG emissions by 2 tonnes a year. Buy the most fuel-efficient vehicle that meets your needs. Check the fuel consumption information on the EnerGuide label, or compare the fuel consumption of different vehicles by consulting the Fuel Consumption Guide. Check your tire pressure once a month. Did you know that 70% of vehicles have at least one tire that is over or under-inflated? Maintaining the correct tire pressure could reduce your GHGs by at least 1/8 tonne each year and save $50 in fuel costs. Visit the Road Safety site.

Anyways, I drive with a remote on my lap and a cell phone because I don't have to look anywhere to change the station, or answer my phone. I drove to the gym today on hold for 7minutes and then talking for 2minutes.. I watched my driving very closely to compare with how I normally drove. The only difference was I checked my mirrors more (I'm guessing because I was evaluating myself). So considering I've only been driving for 6.5years, have 300,000k under my belt, no accidents, and I've been smoked by a drunk driver once, I'll keep driving how I do. I know I can survive without my cell phone and when the contract expires in 12months I plan to do just that. I've used my cell phone to call tow-trucks 5 times, and the police 4 times. I can't say its saved any lives, but its diffinetly benefited myself, some friends and a few strangers. If my phone rings and I can reach it without looking away from the road, I answer it, and I talk on it for short periods of time. Prove to me my driving is at all hindered by using it and I'll gladly change my policy. Then there is the whole thing on driving properly.. which most drivers don't do.. I find myself that a lot of the people that consistantly drive 5km under the speed limit drive that exact same speed in horrible weather. And then there is reaction times.. I'm an active person who has participated in partically every sport at one level or another and I've also played my share of FPS computer games. How is it fair to me that people have horrible reaction times and slame into the back of my mom's car when she breaks, or t-bones my friend? Or skids through my lane and within 1inch of my car while I put my car 3/4 of the way into the ditch to avoid them because they thought going 60km/hr in ice/snow conditions was a good idea.
