For companies that already have passport for certain things, you can setup a secure, fast, *nix server, and allow the few half-wits that use passport to authenticate. How many people got excited by the prospect of being able to do groupware, email, and calendar funtions like Exchange, but without using an Exchange server? This could be the same thing; a way for *nix admins to use their current systems, and support their users who choose to use this thing.
On Friday, February 15, the Chinese -made Enco metal lathe arrived. It took about 4 hours to set it all up, as it had to be hoisted and mounted upon its pedistal. The whole rig probably weighs over 1,200 pounds.
Don't even think of starting a project like this dark ride unless you invest in one of these machine tools. (You'll also want a milling machine.) This unit, plus tools and digital readout (DRO) runs about $6K. It's a bit noisy and vibrates, but it's a lot cheaper than a domestic unit - and it works.
If you are going to do something like this, please invest in a decent tool. EMCO machine tools are the sorriest pieces of crap you can find. Look at a used machinery auction and buy a good Clausing-Colchester lathe and a Bridgeport or Lagun milling machine.
As another alternative; if you're going to drop this much money on buying machine tools, just to build one ride, contact a local job shop and work with them on making the parts.
I don't have any goods or services associated with that particular domain. And I don't pass the domain off as being associated with that particular company. Live and let live.
O.K. In this instance, I can see there not being a problem. However, when you do associate your product with something that someone else has trademarked, then I don't see a problem with them defending their trademark.
Maybe, AOL is using this as a tactic to start talks about a settlement. The settlement could involve AOL acquiring peng like they did with Nullsoft, Netscape, ICQ, etc. Let someone else build the idea, and once it's proven, buy the company and incorporate it. This saves AOL the burden of spending on R&D, but gives them a new market.
pengdialer.org is available as a domain. Why would you specifically use someone else's trademark in your name, knowing that companies with money will persue a change?
Ok, I was away for a little while, but the first link in a google search for "buffer overflow"+microsoft+.net resulted in this article about a buffer overflow in VC++.net compiled code. True, I've never actually used any of the MS development tools; this was just tongue-in-cheek humor. We return you now to your regularly scheduled/.
A CNN article on hydrogen cars details this as well. Now, the question is, which comes first: hydrogen refueling stations so that people will buy cars, or hydrogen powered cars to drive the need for refueling stations?
That's about the only thing in the AUP that I could see them having a problem with. Perhaps you want to show the ISU and GA search engines to them as an example of what's going on. Also, you might implement a bandwidth throttle. My 2 cents.
I did find a link to an old ball shaped typewriter(from a google link). While there doesn't seem to be a currently available product, this idea and one of those flexible rubber keyboards might be a good starting point.

I had a bash alias so that every time i typed in 'rm', it would do 'rm -f'
I've often wondered about aliasing 'rm' to something like 'mv $1/tmp/trash/'. Would something like this work for CLI? (Obviously, if you have a graphical client that does its own file operations, it won't work.)
My understanding is that, most of the time, if you are a college student full time, you can stay on your parent's insurance program. Depending on your work/living situation, this may be beneficial.

The Google cache of the second page lists the machine as ENCO. I was pretty certain that $6k for a lathe with a DRO system seemed pretty cheap.

Maybe these guys should start anonymizing their web server logs.

I like Snoop as much as the next 16 year old, white, suburban kid, but I thought the phrase was "dog eat dog" world. As AC above said:

I never studied French. Where do you come up with that?

Do you think anyone would actually understand it?
Somewhat on topic, is SQL considered a "programming language"? And if so, what would MySQL say (especially on /.'s servers)?
You appear to be writing a buffer overflow. Would you like me to start the wizard for that?

Shit, 3 bottles of Bawls doesn't even get me buzzed anymore. What can a mere mortal do to wake up when caffeine doesn't do the trick anymore?
On second thought, maybe I'll make that an Ask Slashdot question. It can't be worse than any of the others.

Knowing what we know about the general public, which do you think is going to happen?
You could use the line "Do you wash your pants in Windex, because I can see myself in them"

I'm trying to figure out if this is a clever indictment of Bab's spelling, or if this is humourous irony.
As you can see, I don't do this a whole lot. After all, I was brought up believing that deleting a file is DELETEING a file.
