They also didn't say it wouldn't cold call your ex-girlfriend or photoshop penises on images of your grandmother. But its a reasonable expectation that it wont do these things just as it was a reasonable expectation that something called a cloud service would provide more then storage for a select list of file types.
Its like you where on private property or something. Next thing you know they'll be telling me I need a shirt and shoes in order to eat at their restaurant, just because they own it!
This the same Detroit that cried like babies over federal fuel efficiency requirements? Didn't they say that 30mpg was impossible and would put them out of business, despite foreign car makers doing it for years?
You first have to install a the app from an untrusted site and ignore the page full of warnings the OS throws at you before this can do anything. Seriously, look at the screen shot in the FA. You have to agree that the app can make outgoing phone calls. If you click through that many warnings I would hardly call this malware. Its doing exactly what it says it will do.
Not sure I trust em. Not that I ever did. If a company has income, but does not charge their users anything. Then their users are their products, and are being sold to someone else.
Until I can write a useful, stand alone application for a popular platform, I cant really bring myself to care about OCaml or simular languages. Without adoption by a mainstream platform they will remain in the fringe, talked about by comp-sci majors and few others.
I've not worried about browser performance for a long while, lets face it, they're all fast enough. What matters to me is how they behave, their interface and site compatibility.
Not the point. The point is that a third party app can grad the data and send it off to an unknown location without asking permission first. However, that assumes you have an untrusted app installed with the internet permission flag set to true.
Works really good (or is that very well?). Just mix some aluminum powder and iron oxide in the correct ratio. Make sure you have something like a brick fire pit to burn in. Use a section of duct pipe to form a cylinder with the drive at the bottom and some thermite on top. Ignite using a model rocket kit, being sure to stand WELL AWAY from the resulting infermo. Should totally slag the drive and the high heat will demagnetize the platers.
There are no icons you can not remove, however you may need root access to do it. Such applications are installed by your service provider and are part of the contract with them. If you dont like it, you are free to install a different version of the OS or find a different service provider.
I had much the same thoughts, but then I realized that I wouldn't use a seven inch tablet for work or anything else important. It would just be for when I'm too lazy to get off the couch to look up the name of a movie thats rattling around in my head. Frankly, this goes for all tablets. The mobile browsers have simply not been around long enough for me to say that they are secure, so if security is an issue, dont use them.
And finally, it is assumed that you will be able to install other web browsers at some point. While there are none to speak of on Amazons App Store I have little doubt that someone will figure out how to get Firefox Mobile etc installed.
had the argument been framed as "medicare for all" I think it would have gone much better and would have cut back on the people with "keep the government out of my medicare" signs.
So you think that the first amendment overrides all other constitutional rights and amendments? Then you wont object to us having the next protest in your living room I guess, or painting slogans on your car.
If the "traditional media" is ignoring it, why have I seen it on every news channel I visit? There's not round the clock coverage, because frankly it doesn't deserve that.
So if I "peacefully assemble" in your living room with a bunch of my friends, you wont call the police, or do you think your right to property changes my right to assemble?
Your rights end where my rights begin. You have the right to protest, unless it interferes with other peoples rights to commerce and travel. This is why large, disruptive, protests in public areas require permits.
You clicking "I agree" does not give Facebook the right to my face just because you uploaded a picture of me. Or at least it shouldn't.
But only for a limited sub set of the term "data".

He's not trying to keep it, he's trying to sell it.

Bet you a doughnut that this is so they can learn how to prevent or cripple the custom ROMs.
I doubt you have the Dell & HP price guides. You have no idea what they where charged and what they cost to make.
Will this day ever end? Or am I doomed to repeat it forever?
or it could just be a repost I guess....

can we get Doom to run on it?
Exothermic oxidation-reduction makes drives dead.

So you're worried that Amazon will know your browsing habits when you order things from Amazon? I think that may be a non-issue.

You act as if uninsured people cost us nothing. Who do you think pays for their emergency room visits?
