I have already insinuated the mmorpg concepts of ninja and gank into various offices where I work. I honestly think Avatar will be one of the last words to make it into common speech. Toon is much more commonly used.
Example: Dude, you ninja'd my bagel (you took the bagel that I wanted without a fair contest to see who should get the bagel).
Example: Did you hear that Larry got ganked by IT? (While Larry was working on an important project, the IT department blamed him for a mishap, causing management to lay the blame on him for not only his project being late but the apparent failure of IT as well).
GM Judge Moore banned Jack Thompson from the Alabama realm of the controversial MMORPG "Reality" today. The game "Reality" allows players to engage in such controversial activities as genocide, murder, theft, and mis-representation.
If I had distributed the same type of software with a backdoor in it that was later used to facilitate virii and worms, I would probably be going to jail. Why does Sony get a free pass on this?
I'm amazed that even this "expert" in the article seems to not understand the difference between DHTML and AJAX. And I also find it funny that XMLHttpRequest is a MicroSoft developed technology and yet people like this "expert" feel the need to point out that M$ isn't interested in falling in line with the AJAX standard......
All this little value for the rel attribute does is help Google make their Page Rankings pure. The bots that post comment spam are already out there and aren't configured to see if it is a waste of time to post to a site that employs the rel="nofollow" atrribute in anchor tags. This one is already out of the box and it appears to me that Google is just trying to get everyone else to clean up a problem Google started.
