for those curious as to how bloodthirsty UR really is, tuition this year was on the order of ~24,000,which is higher than Harvard (Harvard students pay higher room and board). I live off campus, but getting that "we have to raise tuition by x% this year to better serve you" letter just pisses me off. How about they use some of their $1x10^9 endowment and drop tuition next year? How's that for a novel idea?
Problems to be solved: catalyst cost / catalyst packing power density (1400 mA / cm^2 +) fuel (hydrogen storage / infrastructure) membrane hydration extension of membrane life
what? another new version of windows? I like 2000. It runs all my engineering apps fine, it's svelte, and it doesn't get in my way. Though I'm currently trying XP / Gentoo (and xp it will be gone as soon as I find my 2000 CD). Why not just update XP with a simple patch or offer a new theme if you want it to look ugly? Though I suppose I'm offering another "good enough" argument....
Theo's ego is going to swell to immense proportions now that DARPA is [indirectly] giving OpenBSD money...wonderful. Maybe that's DARPA's goal. Theo pissed off would make a really powerful weapon of mass destruction....
on a more low key note: I'm glad I picked up on openBSD after fooling around with Slack 8.0
There is absolutely no way that M$ can endorse Linux on their own hardware platform. It would be equivalent to having protests that actually accomplished something. Look at it this way: if protests worked, it would encourage more protests, right?...because they would then become a useful tool. By endorsing Linux in away way/shape/form, M$ acknowledges Linux as an alternative to whatever is running on the Xbox, and Microsoft cannot do that and still save face.
purchased a Toshiba e310 before my college sophomore year, gave it to my little brother because I couln't stand the pathetic battery life, buggy file transfer, and akward use - went back to my Tandy PC-6 for the occasional memo, other than that, I remember all my appointments / due dates / etc.

nonsense, I'm sure there are slashdotters that revel at the thought of Star Wars
more importantly, why does your school look like a 1950's era prison?

absolutely brilliant - if only I could find it at a reasonable price....
