Dell and Microsoft will have to start producing some better products due to the increased competition. Apple is one step away from going toe-to-toe with Dell and Microsoft now. Dell will still continue to dominate the cheap-as-hell market, but don't expect people to proudly say they own a Dell (I know I wish I could hide their logos on my laptop). And Microsoft knows that OS X may be a direct competitor to Windows if Apple chooses to become more of an OS vendor or partner with a big OEM.
What about the unwritten laws? In dictatorial countries we're not talking about just what's on the record, but also about what the powers that be don't like.
1) Nope, VHS tapes lasted longer
2) Maybe games could start to be written in OpenGL more, and OS X will have 100% compatibility with Office 12 documents as they'll be in an open format.
How do you suppose they could count self-built units? Do you check a box every time you buy a hard drive:
1) for new self-built system
2) for addition to existing system
Well, as long as speculation and wishful thinking is rampant, how about an x86 version of OS X to compete with Windows? Apple won't need Microsoft for Office anymore after Office 12 with its new default open format is released. Apple could easily come up with an office suite that's compatible with Office 12's file formats.
Pfft, what's the big deal with the start button. It's there because you start an action. That action can be to start a program, or to shut down. Lame, tired, inaccurate joke. There's plenty to bitch about Windows, pick something more substantive.
It never even crossed my mind that tabs could be controlled by web sites. Can you imagine the hell IE would be if sites controlled when to open and close tabs like they currently can with windows?
I pay $25/mo for DSL (only 384Kb up/down but I just want constant on and it's faster than dialup). You need a landline too, but that's what I use anyway as I don't carry a cell.
Sorry, but there is no way that will *ever* bring much more resolution than is available. It will be a bit better, a bit less fuzzy, but there is no way it can provide zoom capability.
Well, if the previous OS's would crash in two hours, then one that doesn't is already more stable. Once OS's start taking longer to crash, more time will be needed to judge their stability.
I just hope that the OSS movement doesn't try to support it. That will just give it more legitimacy. With Word documents you have to as they are so entrenched, but this is too new. Just let it die as another MS brain-dead idea.
This is shouldn't be about whether the customers were savy enough to realise that there would be a catch or not, this is about keeping companies in line with their advertising. I'm tired of companies saying anything they want as long as they have a 2pt, 10 page disclaimer to go along with it.
I get irritated every time a company wants to sell you something, and they tell you that you are getting something else for free. How could it be free if you have to pay in order to get it. Yes, it makes sense that you have to pay for things, but why should they be allowed to lie to people all the time?
Well, I for one welcome the change. I can see how it might piss off some Gnome slackers, but then again I have a feeling that most of them would install dropline anyway.
Anyone else think of boogers when reading Flickr? Maybe it's just my disgusting self. On the other hand, I'm sure there are some illuminating pictures of the activity on the service.
What's so hard to understand??? Most Americans don't think there is anything bad going on in the US. You may disagree, you may think that they are not well informed or just plain stupid, but it doesn't change the fact that the Bush administration was reelected. Other governments may have been overthrown for less, but I'm pretty sure that a good size of that populace must have been pretty mad. I don't like what's going on, I voted accordingly, and I write letters to my representatives, but all that is moot if I am in the minority.

not unlike? How about like? It's shorter.
When can we see the death of "death" proclamations?

There are a couple of of videos discussing Linux at Microsoft at Channel 9.
Why doesn't it flag these incompatible versions then? Post's point stands as far as I can see.

Sounds like the girl might have lured the AOL employee for some money. At 15 she should have known better.
Have a read.
Uncompress it, and add media
Two other ones: smoke it
Have they made any major improvements since Be went under, or have they just slapped some make up on the last version and are trying to sell that?

Move your clock (and hence the snooze button) away from reach.
