I used to manage a couple Funcoland stores a few years ago. Our company (over 400 stores) was bought out and a then the drama ensued.
We were flown to the big company pow-wow and private trade-show and given lots of freebies. While there we were told we're all ok, and that there would be a place for us within the Barnes & Nobel megaconglomerate,
Unfortunately our district manager (awesome guy) was gone within a week. A few long-time managers left soon after (stock options) but most of us tried to fit in.
After the Playstation 2 release and the Christmas season, District, Area, and Store Managers were removed one by one for the vaugest of reasons.
I was one of the last to go in my area, and while I happily took full unemployment and went back to college. I look back and still feel bitter about a promising management career cut short.
In California, and where I live - Minnesota, (and probably other states) over 50% of state taxes goes to Education, (and 70% of THAT is salaries and pensions)
Those with a Libertarian or Conservative leaning sometimes forget that Taxes purchase something useful for you: civilization.
Us Libertarians don't really mind paying taxes for roads, sewers, garbage removal, etc. It's liberals take most of the taxes and give them to artists who can't draw, teachers who can't teach, and then to people who arn't citizens, that annoy us.
But seriously, just because you want to port something doesn't mean other people want to port it, so you would be better off trying to contact people interested in your game in the first place, who can code for Linux or who have ported before, as they are most likely easily "rewarded" by special insights into how the game works, or you could also reward them with special game tokens (like having an island named after them or a building in a standard or Linux-only map) or other things.
Did you even read the original post? He's willing to PAY to have it ported. Screw little easter-eggs, he's offering cash money and/or revenue sharing!
In America the lefties are screaming about civil rights and torture in Guantanamo, but by your reasoning it's ok if it's for the greater good.
We must view the law as strict, uncompromising, and applying to everyone. However, in cases for which the common good was served, a congressional or presidential pardon should be considered - after the law has had it's say.
I don't care if he found a picture of ET doing shots with Paris Hilton. He hacked into a computer system and started fucking around. I don't care if he's a scapegoat - he still broke the law.
#1. Second hand smoke shouldn't bother you OUTSIDE.
#2. Tinting my windows is an illegal modification, how stupid is that?
#3. Please tell me where you can legally buy a machine gun without going through 6 months of background checks. I'm talking about shotguns and rifles, of which my right to own is attacked daily by anti-gunners - mostly on the left. Statisticly, you're more likely to be killed by a criminal's bare hands than by a so-called assault weapon anyway (which isn't a machine gun) .
#4. I don't pay willingly for illegal immigrants. But the government that taxes me seem to.
Apparently the Republican party was in charge when Jesus was on earth because that was the same strategy the local political powers pursued against Him.
Yea, Like those Republicans who ban smoking everywhere, pass laws to prevent me from modifying my car, raise my taxes in order to alleviate health-care costs for illegal immigrants, and try to prevent me from buying firearms... Oh wait, those aren't Republicans.
Either you're too dense to see that both parties suck, or you're just another democratic undergrounder who smells an opportunity to chant the "I hate Republicans" mantra.
Either way you're too dumb to see the forest through the trees, and so are the mods who chant this tripe with you.
Spatially resolved global reconstructions of annual surface temperature patterns over the past six centuries are based on the multivariate calibration of widely distributed high-resolution proxy climate indicators. Time-dependent correlations of the reconstructions with time-series records representing changes in greenhouse-gas concentrations, solar irradiance, and volcanic aerosols suggest that each of these factors has contributed to the climate variability of the past 400 years, with greenhouse gases emerging as the dominant forcing during the twentieth century. Northern Hemisphere mean annual temperatures for three of the past eight years are warmer than any other year since (at least) AD 1400.
While I think asking for personal data and computer codes is pretty far out of line, I think a review of the raw data and a detailed analysis of the "Spatially resolved global reconstructions" may not be asking too much.
A peek at the "multivariate calibrations" might be a good idea as well.
I think there needs to be a new term and definition for various games.
Final Fantasy is an RPG, as you take a particular (if linear) role in the game. Other games which give you a name and a mission/role obviously meet the definition as well.
But other games that have no linearity, or defined inital charachter/role/mission should be called a Charachter Simulation Game (CSG) or more generically, an Alternate Enviroment, or Massively Multiplayer Alternate Enviroment. (AE, and MMAE, respectively)
For the most part, you're playing _yourself_ in these games. You pick your name, your race, your occupation, and your decisions, interactions, and actions are what make up the bulk of your life in these worlds.

"Stopping Power" doesn't have to do with kinetic energy, it has to do with stopping the enemy from attacking you. A determined enemy can often take two or more 9mm/.38 rounds before they halt the attack..45 rounds are larger and do more damage, therefore an enemy stops attacking faster.
So completely incorrect you should be modded down.
there are no hollowed out sections section on the xm193 bullet. It is a.22 caliber fmj bullet that does not tumble, alter trajectories, or mystically wound the enemy using voodoo. They expand minimally if at all.
The bullets used in wars governed by the Geneva Convention are less lethal than the bullets used by hunters (soft-lead nosed bullets that mushroom)

It's not the process that's the problem, it's the 2 party system, and the media that lives to polarize the two in order to make money that's the problem.
More than likely you couldn't define what an assault weapon is, nor could you tell me the difference between what you think is an assault weapon, and a "normal" semi-auto hunting rifle.
I think we've all been waiting for good VR tech to start becomming a reality, but what would people most like to use it for?
I can think of a few ways...
Tour of the Playboy Mansion
Tour of the Penthouse Photo studios
Tour of the Dallas Cheerleader locker room (or any Cheerleader's locker-room..)

You're right about defense spending, but you might be suprised where the rest of it goes
Dude, there is no bottom. It's turtles all the way down.
Indeed, Since space-time is curved, the turtle is really standing on itself.

After going through a -40F streak in Northern Minnesota, you'll find us wearing shorts in 50F

Does this mean that geeks are soon to speciate and then ultimate fail as the male/female ratio is horrendously out of wack?
+1 Terrifying

I attacked the argument in a different thread. I attacked the poster in this thread because he mindlessly attacked Republicans.
Read my post carefully. I attack both parties, and this turd who mindlessly follows.

I really don't understand how Bush became the fall guy when it's obvious who's really to blame for the "Digital Mess" we're mucking through right now.
