Ok is this the Music Sony we hate, or the Gaming Sony we Love... It's electronics, but it has to do with music. Arrrgh I don't know if I should love this or hate this. Somebody tell me I can't think on my own.
Isn't this in the realm of possibility for Checkers now. I know checkers has been solved with up to like 9 pieces a side. But with the limited moves, it should be able to create a database of all moves in only a couple terrabytes or so. Yeah I know "only" is relative, but it should be in the realm of possibilities.
Is there any way to throttle down a P4 without speedstep? I've got a 3.2ghz P4 which requires a screaming fan to keep cool despite the processor claiming it is using 1% capacity.
If I'm just browsing the web is there any program out there that can slow down a regular P4 chip?
I got the best thing ever from learning Dvorak, the ability to type once again. I had such severe RSI (or whatever the hell they are calling it this month) that it was painful for me to type a singe sentence in QWERTY. Some physical therapy and a switch to Dvorak, and the pain went away, and my ability to type came back. This was 8 years ago and I haven't looked back since. It depends on the situation if I use one of my Kinesis natural dual keyboards which can be switched on the fly, or if I just do software emulation, but my wife knows how to switch back to Qwerty with whatever method I do.
Just because something isn't standard, doesn't make it wrong. Some people throw away the operating system that comes with their computer and install Linux. I throw away the keyboard layout and use Dvorak.
They just don't get it. The reason people use Google is because it loads fast and just works. It doesn't take forever to load with flash animations, and other crap no one needs. When you want to search you go to Google. If you want to be bombarded with media and advertisements there are plenty of other sites on the internet.
I totally agree. My wife likes to surprise me with games, and last night I went though an Electronic Botique with her and pointed out what games were made by EA, and that I made it clear I didn't want any of them.
Having developed games, in what seems like a former life, for the Dreamcast I still haven't forgiven them for their boycot of the system, and their recent actions against Sega. Not that Sega is a holy company in their own right, but working closely with them for those years I felt they truely cared about about the games themselves, not just how to make the most money off of them.
You can pick up most new scanners these days for less than the cost of an ink jet cartradge. Find a company that is willing to support your choice of operating system
Use the money you don't give to Microsoft and give it to a reputable scanner supplier instead.
Macromedia has had the flash format opened for years, that's why there are many programs which can create/display flah content, including Adobe Livemotion, Electric Rain's Swift 3D, and many many others.
The problem is open source software has not embraced the flash format the way it has.pdf. The specs are there, OSS is just not running with it... yet.
And we're a major business literally 1 mile outside the city limits of a 25,000 person town in Ohio.
That one mile puts us too far out for DSL, too far out for cable, and our only option is wireless broadband, which is $125 / month for essentially isdn speed.
So technically while we DO have broadband access, it isn't what most people have come to understand as boadband.
The only way to insure that there will be as small amount of voter fraud is to offer huge incentives to people for turning in fraud. $100,000 - $1,000,000 rewards for turning in voter tampering. In fact this should be done for all fraudulent government activities.
ties.
man $1,000,000 for turning in fraudulent government activities. That'll double our national debt by the end of the month.
Yeah it's one person, and in the greater scheme of things it's nothing. But it is my way of "Voting" with my wallet. We just got done with all the election hype, and being told how important each and every vote is.
I bought Doom 3 and downloaded the Doom 3 linux binary. I bought Unreal Tournament 2004 from linuxgamers. I bought Neverwinter Nights and all the expansions and again grabbed the linux binaries.
I simply refuse to buy games that do not have Linux Binaries. Yes I know I'm missing out on some decent games, but it's the principle. Id, Epic, and Bioware can all look at their logs and see how many linux binaries were downloaded, and I am represented in there. They can say, we sold X copies, but Y% of them were Linux Users.
If I buy Warcraft III, or Half Life 2, to Blizzard or Valve, I am a Windows user. They look and say "Look at all the Windows versions we sold. Why spend any time on making a binary for our next game when we know how many Windows copy will sell?"
I already have started this as an experiment in our office. I took about a dozen identical computers and installed Gentoo on them with Gnome, Ximian OpenOffice, Evolution, Firefox etc.
Every Sunday night all systems do an emerge sync via a cron job. Monday morning I'll take my system and do an emerge -uD world world on it. If everything goes ok with the system on Monday, I'll allow the cron to run Monday night on the rest of the machines doing it to them as well.
Granted it's not the perfect solution, but I've had no issues so far in about 2 months using the systems, and those who use them have had no issues . Literally this takes me maybe 2 hours a week to maintain, and most of that time is just my computer compiling the week's updates while I'm busy doing other things, so its hard to count that as "Time" I could cron my system to run Sunday night, and just check the logs when I get in Monday, but for whatever reason I just like to be there when the first machine compiles the week's updates.
There's still a lot of things I'd love to improve, but judging by how many people keep asking when they can get that "leeenicks thingie" on their system, using the Gentoo portage system in this way seems to work pretty darn well.
Along the same line as a kid I had a lot of Hot Wheels track that had a motor for shooting the cars down the track. Well as all good toys do, the motor broke, but that track entertained me for ages. I'd build "bobsleds" out of Legos, and time the cars going down the track, trying to make them more aerodynamic and faster. A friend of the family was a college science professor and he helped me hook up photocells to the track, wire them to my Atari 800, so I could more accurately time my results.
About a month ago I came across a box of graph paper that I used as a hand made speadsheet for listing all my results.
the "man" (the *AA, your campus network admin, your boss) can check on the bits you're passing... and will see that you're not passing any copyrighted bits.
Bits huh? 110110010 damn its copyrighted... 1100010011 damn its copyrighted... 1 damn its copyrighted.... 0 damn its copyrighted....
The point is, somehow my information CHANGED at the board of elections from the time I registered to vote and recieved a card with the correct address on it, to the time I showed up to vote.
This means either 1) the board of elections manually typed out the voter registration book, and who knows how many other mistakes are in there...
or 2) My information was physically CHANGED at the board of elections.
If my votes are not counted that means that no matter how secure evoting might someday become, a person can still be denied their right to vote by a hacker and a few changed numbers.
The Answer is simple. As is stands now, the winner of CO gets 9 electoral votes. If this ammendment passes, the winner will probably get 5 electoral votes and the loosing candidate 4. Why would a candidate waste ANY money or time on Colorado. Suddenly winning Colorado means the state is worth 1 electoral vote.
Yes for the votes to be distributed makes a ton of sense, but ONLY if it is done Nationwide. Otherwise a state just ends up reducing it's importance in the national race.
Yet another reason why the electoral college sucks.

Gish is just a ball of tar, and makes a great game.
But if it makes too much money, EA will buy Critereon, fire the staff, replace it with slave labor and ship the same game for the next 10 years.

So now I have copyrighted 0 and 1. Can I now legally sue the **AA for having billions of copies of my copyrighted work on their websites?

I'm 27, Caucasian, registered as an independant in a very Republican rural Ohio county.
