    Im just playing devils advocate here. The US has sadly put itself in the position in which its really hard for anyone to take them seriously. Especially when someone talks about torture, surveillence and free speech you get a twitch in the corner of your eye.

    The US had tremendous worldwide support only a decade ago that is now eroded down into banana-country levels. Im not saying its all true but its to much to run around playing Mother Theresa with an Uzi.

    How many people are in US jails right now?
    What country in the world has the biggest surveillance program know to man?
    What country has been found spying on its own people?
    In percents, what country has the largest amount of people in jail?
    In what country has torture been declared perfectly legal?
    What countries has been involved in torture in conjunction with electronic surveillance?
    What country has sentenced people to death based on evesdropping?

    Also ask yourself these questions:

    Are americans much more probable to commit crimes than any other people, in the whole world?
    Is it possible some people currently in US jails are innocent?
    Is it totally impossible a part of these are in essence political prisoners?

    Passed them all is a bit of an overstatement. There are still loads of tests we havent done yet because we do not have the technology to perform them. We are on the beginning of an understanding, not at the end. The theory seems plausible but its in no way confirmed other than as a working model. That doesnt say its true, it just tells us you can use the model to calculate stuff.

    Sometimes i think its a cult and not a theory.

    I wonder if this happens with an atomic clock sent up into space? If so it would disprove the current belief that tests with atomic clocks in space has proven the theory of relativity.

    I find this very intriguing because i do not believe you can bend spacetime. Only time will tell if im right.

    GPS devices and such are just sticks in the wheels of mother nature. On one hand its good that more people discover nature and get a feel for it but somehow i dont think idiots like these people get the point.

    I have no doubts whatsoeven this was an attempt at character assassination by the US. That charges gets dropped within 24 hours after a warrant has been made is unusual and very strange, especially since they havent even questioned Assange or talked to him by phone.

    Wikileaks has some very damning material on the US that hasnt been released yet. Imagine communicaitons between various sources in the US and their operatives. Imagine these conversations being highly inflammatory, especially for US allies. Imagine key to a file with those communications that will be released if something big happens to wikileaks.

    The US dont dare to kill Assange but they will do whatever they can to make his life living hell.

    I would much rather see software manufacturers be put under the same exact terms as auto makers. Make it expensive to fail and disregard any Q&A and the problem will fix itself.

    Right now the cost of shipping a faulty product is zero in the software market. The only cost is a public relations one and that can be successfully mitigated by hiring oodles of PR firms instead of fixing the real problem.

    The criminals will always be there so the only solution that has any effect in the long term is making the systems more resillient to attacks.

    When did Silverlight get broad platform support? Last time i checked it worked on Windows and Mac. Mono is not an option as it is not really compatible. Its like saying IIS has broad platform support because firefox exists.

    If you take a quick gander at The Pirate Party you soon discover they are very nicely aligned with free speech activists all over the world. Their only goal is free flow of information without restrictions.

    I guess if you consider free speech a bad thing it may be a sad day, join the complaint department along with china, north korea and the rest of the fine states agains free speech.

    Youve got it wrong. The Afghan informants blood is on US military that does an half assed job of protecting their informants. Do you seriously beleive this is the only leak of this and other sensitive information? Spies didnt suddenly become unemployed last month you know.

    It was Saudis that hijacked the planes and chrashed them 9/11, not afghanis. Look it up, afghanistan taliban had nothing to do with it but sadly for them they hadnt extensive ties with the US government as the saudis has.

    The day mono blasts past .Net in usage on Linux instead of on Windows, do you beleive for one minute Microsoft wont pull any legal string they can?

    Mono is in no better position than Java. I would say its in much worse position but since everybody avoids it like the black plague there is nothing for Microsoft to get worked up about. Just a notch in the "x-platform almost but not really compatible" tick on the PR material.

    What law should be used? "incriminating another country"? "leaking of unflattering documents from another country"? "disclosing another countrys secrets"?

    This is utterly insane and dont reflect nicely upon Americas self-image of being "Always Right(tm)". Not to mention the image it projects abroad. Obama had a very shortlived popularity thats for sure.

    I seriously doubt Obama runs the show at all. He seems more and more like a puppet for the military complex.

    Well, even better then that they actually reference the Kyoto protocol for a wast number of projects they do but doesnt have to. Obama just held a pretty speech and just didnt gave a fuck in putting it into action (not that he has much to say about anything).

    You do know China is doing a really strong push into renewable energy? They are the worlds largest manufacturer of wind power equipment and has put serious efforts into solar, wind, energy crops, has this written into law and they even (gasp!) signed the Kyoto protocol the US took a dump on.

    Lets see, we have a two party system ruled by very influental corps and small interest groups with more power than any number of voters could ever have.

    On the other side we have a one party system ruled by politicians.

    I cant really decide which is worse because they both suck on so many levels.

    Its very shortsighted of us in the west to give this whole area of development to the Chinese. As they get more efficient and starts getting good at using alternative energy we in the west will still fight about oil, coal and other forms of non renewable energy.

    The future lies at the feet of whom have energy in wast amounts. If China wins this race, they win in the long run. I wouldnt be surprised if we end up paying royalties to China for their technology instead. Some politicians cling to the idea that the west will supply the brains and the rest of the world will pay.

    Our greed comes back to bite us over and over.

    Google do not make all the worlds rules. One thing they are good at is adapting to them and trying to make the best out of bad situations. Google had hoped for legislation forbidding deals like these but when the politicians dont dare, google adapts.

    Wake me up when better technology is getting out. As of now, 3D is more annoying than it should. After the first 10 seconds the novelty wears off but the suckiness stays.
