  1. Pales in comparison to Ruby On Rails on TurboGears: Python on Rails? · · Score: 0

    Hi,

I've seen both quicktime movies now: Ruby on Rails and now this one. And this video is not nearly as impressing as the rails one is - mostly, because the python solution here is violating the DRY (don't repeat yourself) principle at many places.

This makes the demonstration look dull and complicated.

While I like the general idea of the project, there's still a large way to go till it reaches the ease and simplicity of Rails.

  2. Just don't do it on What Do You Charge for Tech Support? · · Score: 1

Don't do the supporting. It's not worth it.

Regardless of whether you ask for money or not, the supported will take any further problem with his or her computer personally and run to you as if it was your fault.

I've stopped to give any support to anyone. Regardless if friend, family or stranger. It's just not worth the hassle.

  3. Search by Date seems to be there... on Google Flips Back to Groups Beta (Again) · · Score: 3, Informative

... http://groups-beta.google.com/advanced_search it's just right there at the bottom of the form. So for me all this whining around is quite senseless. Without this date-search, google groups would indeed be completely useless (who is interested in answers to tech-questions asked around 1990?) Philip

  4. Reminds me of Lindows on "Missing Link" In Windows Emulation Unveiled? · · Score: 5, Insightful

    Hello,

this announcement reminds me of waht Lindows told us back then. I mean 100% Windows compatibility and such. The linked article seems quite ridiculous to me.

I mean "while all those projects emulating windows inherit the windows specific problems like instability, out new implementation does not contain those, thus is stabler then windows".

This is just another WINE-ripoff combined with good PR. Don't believe a thing!
