True, I remember my parents getting a second phone thru the "black market". This phone had the ringer disabled so bell couldn't detect it.
It wasn't until around 10 years ago that my parents quit leasing there phone. My wife who worked at a baby bell was able to convince them to own their phone instead of leasing it.
She was also in the movie Billie Jean with Helen and Christian Slater.

True. This was on "The History Channel" earlier this week. This general had Feynman over for dinner then brought him into his garage. The general said that he restored old cars as a hobby and was having problems with a carburetor. He told Feynman something like I don't know why but these damn carburetors leak a lot in cold weather. Do you think we're looking at a similiar problem on the shuttle.
There are many different degree of Amish and many different degrees of Menonite. Some embrace pieces of technology others do not. On a trip to Lancaster last summer I saw Amish people bailing something on their farm (alfalfa?). There was a diesel powered bailer on a trailer being pulled by horses.
Pennsylvania law requires anyone who produce dairy to keep their milk refridgerated (not on ice) The electricity to run the refridgerators comes from generators. Some feel as long as they are not connected to the grid, its ok.
I guess I was just craving information about whats out there, how far it is away, how many years they've been waiting, the idea that it takes about 22 hours (Is this accurate?) for a command to get to the probe and back
Eventually we'll have this long trail of little probes, each sending very weak signals to the next in line. One day, the one in the front will get to some alien planet and it's message of peace will be delivered.
And if they're hostile there is a trail of bread crumbs leading back to us.
Lets say the tech has identified himself as an employee of the company. He then gives advice on how to fix the problem but it is misunderstood by the person having the problem and the problem gets worse. Its not the tech's fault but the perception may be that the company doesn't know what there doing. Then he tells two friends and they tell two friends and so on and so on.
My favorite Moon Landing Conspiracy Theory is that Stanley Kubrik directed the fake moon landing on location in the Sea of Tranquility.
Ok....if it was filmed on location didn't man have to go there?
How about "problem with the keyboard driver"?
...but you won't live to a ripe old age or anything, ...
But when you die, you may not need to be embalmed.
And then they could use the space elevator to get the stuff up there.

True.
I bet the driver of the Toyota will get a lot of ribbing though.
Also, with NASCAR rules the way they are, the makes have to be manufactured in the US. Which lends the sport a bit of patriotic 100% American-ness.
The rules are changing. Toyota is making its debut in the NASCAR Truck Series in 2004.
