SSL certainly does matter when you want to perform a secure transaction with confidence. It should remain optional though. There are enough loops and hoops to jump through to create a reliable domain from which you can send email. SSL would, if mandated, become a problem for millions of current domain admins, especially if you have to pay for a complete version, and it's a commodity product. Quite expensive for people who do not have a commercially focused domain. I think a healthy ptr record in your DNS should be sufficient for most intents and purposes....and the use of SSL has far surpassed the need for it. So it's important in some instances, but not required in most. You shouldn't have to have it to run an email server, but it's a good option if you'd like an added level of security.
Aren't they simply calling pixels atoms, and rasterizing images, as opposed to vectorizing them? I fail to see any novel technology. I'm happy to listen though if there is something involved I missed.
We are entitled to these rights, and it's only when we're unwilling to fight for them that they get stripped away. Your gun is a final solution...and it's going to be too late if you don't use your voice and your pen now. Your gun is just going to get you killed, you idiot. There should be public defenders stepping up, but they've been marginalized to defending base offenders...they should be there for everyone who wants to protest in the name of social disobedience, or who would pursue some injustice, but can't afford it...they should be there as an option for everyone...not the people who deserve them least and who they likely will not benefit much in the final analysis....grrr..
The greedy corporate-military enterprises. They're bringing us to totalitarianism. They've broken the law of checks and balances, and nobody spoke up who had any power who survived politically or sometimes literally very long.
Despite all the crazy conspiracy rigmarole...we need to turn off the TV and step up...or the world we all share will literally be reduced to ash. I can't figure out if the perpetrators are evil or stupid...I mean look at George Bush...elegant speaker...until he walked into the white house. Now he's a world renowned idiot...but he's good...he's Yoda'd us all.
And that's my yearly rant.
It seems kind of silly to break the internet in this way. It was designed not to be broken. Policies created by individuals who really don't understand the engineering and underlying technology should never be introduced into the system. I do still remember when we were being asked, "Should governments control the internet."
It doesn't really matter that everyone who did understand the tech said, "No, that's ridiculous."
They did it anyway.
People who want to circumvent these filters will still, of course be able to do so. Those few people who do leverage the internet for illegal activities are unlikely to be stopped, only inconvenienced. I don't know the numbers, but I feel safe in assuming that this is a huge waste of taxpayer dollars.
The idea of the internet being leveraged as a client/server system has been long in the making. It still isn't appropriate for large data transfers due to security and bandwidth considerations. I don't think this ideas time has come yet, despite big names trying to push it forward.
The internet has really gone downhill since government regulation was deemed appropriate by the governments themselves. Most tech-savvy individuals are unsurprised, and completely expected said outcome. Yes, it's time to create a new internet without commercial interest. They have (through government intervention) ruined the whole damned thing. Ideas? Comments?
I think that if we took the finances required to build and man a nuclear power plant, and put those funds towards the education and infrastructure required for sustainable energy, we would reap a surplus. The problem is that energy corporations can't realize a hard and fast profit off of of this process. They are the primary entities standing in the way of real and healthy human progress.
Patents were originally intended to protect the designers of original and novel means from others copying or replicating their ideas in the interest of profit seeking. The system has been often exploited by organizations or individuals who have patented an idea which is too general or universal, or who have simply purchased licensing rights from the original creator.
I think the right to sell a patent has deteriorated the purpose of patents.
It's an interesting concept that a traditionally closed court proceeding with peers chosen from a local demographic might conceivably one day become a session seen and judged by thousands, possibly tens of thousands of people. It's a logistical nightmare, but maybe one day will be an alternative method of judging court cases. A verdict from the jury, the judge, with input from the collective. I don't know if it could be feasible...I just find it interesting.
An ethical computer repair person would never have to worry about child porn on a clients computer, because they would never look over the clients files.
I'm not advocating child porn, but I've never searched through the personal files of a clients PC and felt good about it. I hate it when I have to browse their info at all. I've been asked by minions more than once what they should do when they've found questionable material. My suggestion was that they should not have been browsing that information in the first place, but now that they think they've found something, they should follow their conscience.
You should never ever have to do this as a professional. It's certainly outside the scope of works...and you should not have been looking over the clients files anyway...you idiot.
I can't help but to suspect a secondary agenda. If you just begin to imagine the resources required to monitor keystrokes, you quickly come to the conclusion that there must be an automated system looking for key words, raising flags. I honestly don't think they care so much for the cattle, or they'd simply pay for ergonomic keyboards...it's just so obvious....are they stupid, or do they think we are? Or are both things true?
I dunno.
I intuit that if we only allowed local residents to exploit their local resources...and treated our cattle more like people and our people less like cattle...the problem would be a non issue for most of the world. The corporate structures building like plaque on teeth are breaking the systems, and the systems cease to remain sustainable...there's only so much world...and it's a globally interdependent system we are childishly breaking in the name of profit. Unfortunately I have no advice or recommendation other than revolution. Unfortunately attaining this in an appropriate manner which would end in bio-socio harmony falls outside of the scope of my skill set.
The law itself very specifically discriminates by taking a specific world view, or belief system...outside of law and science, quite directly connected to religion...and attempts to validate it by giving it some special governmental protection outside of what is already provided. Is the lawmaker an idiot, or do they think the people they need to convince are idiots?
I'm fairly certain it's one or the other. My most dreaded fear is that they could possibly get away with it.
Bullets tend to topple with wind gusts, when they hit the ground they spiral madly and ricochet. (e.g. the largest footage of speedboat accidents)
If the design works, the miracle engineering will not be in the motors(Jets) but in the wheel bearing (electromagnetically suspended...I dunno) miracle bearings. As many have learned from powerful guns with short barrels....power is nothing without control.
Don't get me wrong. I love Dick. I just can't help but to wonder why film makers consider his work so accessible. There's such a vast array of beautiful and profound concepts to draw upon. I know why I love Dick...but it would be nice to see producers branch out more.:) Dick.
When hearing how government/military networks had been compromised, my first thought was that; with their resources, why not develop a proprietary network protocol? I mean, yeah, all routers, switches, cards, possibly cables would be needed...but the US military budget is way out of whack with everything else...they have the resources.
I also entertained this notion on a private level. I think it's fundamentally sound but untenable...maybe if we started now though, in 5-10 years the idea (by virtue of a slew of other good idea) could be implemented. It's much easier to dismiss the idea than to give it serious consideration. Fear of failure is a self fulfilling prophesy. Can't never could and so forth...
I have a working theory: If you post your costs and profits, people will accept you making a profit. When you do not they are left to their imagination. Texting is old school as TTY....and the charges are overinflated. The industry should not use this as a standard...or we will call them greedy shits...because...y'know...it is fitting.
Great, now we combine this tech with desalinization and we can use the 'practically infinite' ocean water, once we figure out how to get that useless oil out of it. And really, it just means more land to develop...the upsides are never ending.
Isn't that like deciding whether posting someones telephone number, or postal address is the same as calling them or sending them a letter?
It's a symptom of private agenda vs public interest. How deep do you really need to go, and why else waste the public time and money on something so obvious?
I suppose reframing the question as, "Does the public have the right to company transparency?"
Companies are not humans, and it's not equitable that they be treated as one when they can't suffer the same consequences,
and the people responsible can walk away.
I have this almost certain conviction that many things attributed to Obama are not really fairly attributed to him, or portray his intentions fairly. I'm guessing a great deal of this is written for idiots.
In most cases where wi-fi is distributed as a cloud it uses a RADIUS server which tracks mac addresses, and can schedule times to allow access. You might ask your network admin to require that all devices be registered before network access is allowed, and it makes sense from a security perspective as well. Once that's done, the devices access can be managed and scheduled....but you might need a 3G jammer as well....nothing is easy, but a great deal is possible with a bit of effort and cooperation.
I have consistently found google more effective. My suspicion is that this is because I am usually looking for information as opposed to products.

I believe Hoffman was developing a headache cure when he stumbled upon LSD. Once he tried batch 25, he sort of digressed, understandably.

I don't know if recruiting would be as appropriate of a word as subjugating.
