  1. Hm that's interesting on nVidia/AMD Merger Announced · · Score: 1

so now Am_Vida will be in business of making space heaters for homes with added bonus of browsing interent and playing games. That would be Cool The whole family gathering around the Am_vidia 2000xp instead of fireplace or regular heater.

  2. hehe on AOL To Finally Switch To Mozilla? · · Score: 1

at least the AOL techs admit that AOL sucks "How many Linux people do you know personally who would sign up for AOL if we had a Linux client? I don't know a single one, myself. I have an account with another ISP I use at home with my Linux box, and probably wouldn't use AOL from home even if I could." It is very good news to see that Geco is a viable option for internet browsing. As long as the big companies follow the herd mentality, once one of them "embraces" new technology they all might do the same thing

  3. I like my job on Do You Like Your Job? · · Score: 1

For the last 4 years I have been working as an accountant and sys admin at a small public acct. firm. I love being accountant. It is all I always expected it to be.

Sys admin side of my job I kinda dred but it has to be done and someone has to do it - and the best part of it is they pay me for doing it.

When looking for a job the money should not be an objective at least not the primary one. After all who would want to spend 8 10 or 12 hours working in a job he or she hates. I know I wouldn't

  6. Windows will rule the desktop on Bob Young says Linux won't rule the desktop · · Score: 2, Insightful

As long as there is no main stream applications for Linux OS the windows will rule

by mainstream apps I don't mean word processors, spreadsheets, presentation etc

What I mean is accounting applications for small business, proprietary database applications

I work in a small accounting office and would like to make the change however spreadsheets, word processors just don't cut it

I need Accounting apps (Accpac, Simply Accounting, Quick Books etc.), I need information databases (CCH, Carswells) I need tax apps (Taxprep, Taxbyte) and many many more that are only made for proprietary OSes

Till those are available on the store shelves from all the major vendors Linux will never take off in small businesses
