okay, fair enough I can see from the responses that i may have overstepped the mark, but the majority of responses to this come from people who are long out of school, don't have kids in one, but still think they should be able to dictate how schools are run. Pisses me off, is all. I apologise:)
The difference being, we are required by law to know where our pupils are at all times, i can't see a reason for knowing when you're in your house at all times, although I'm sure a few of the anonymous cowards will think of a reason.
I'm an admin in a school, and for the pupils, this is actually a benefit. The closest thing we've come to a seamless registration is using swipe cards, which get lost, traded, broken, etc.
This system gives the students the freedom to come and go as they please, and in the event of a fire, for example, we know exactly where students are at any time, without having to hope that when they signed out, they remembered to swipe out....
I can imagine the majority of tin foil hat replies to this post, but just for once, if you're not in the position to be affected by this, shut the hell up.....

True - but if I went to one of those Michael Howard sites, I would expect to see either a 404 or something official about Michael Howard. I don't expect to see the opposition party telling me what they think I should know about a candidate I support.
Personally, I think our Government should be given a slap and made to hand the domains over. They've obviously done it as a form of political canvassing, and it's plain wrong.
Try reading the article. This isn't a spam issue, it's a premium rate dialler issue. If they move operations in a big way, then Ireland can react in the same way. To be honest, I can't imagine the loss of Ireland will make them want to move...
yeah, exactly. If he was going to wait till after no. III, he may as well just release a big stonking 6 disc set instead.... as it stands, the DVD box set came out yesterday in the UK, and that's always been the date since way back in April, IIRC...
erm, the students are affected by this, so i would welcome their responses. I never said I would tell anyone who objected to shut up.
