  1. The one time I did this on Executing a Mass Departmental Exodus in the Workplace? · · Score: 1
The one time I did this, they had to beg me to stay on for an extra 2 weeks, in order for me to train the 4 people who they needed to replace me.

    Bwwaaaaaghahahahah, stupid gits.

  2. Experience on an online teacher on Do Online Schools Provide A Quality Education? · · Score: 1

I teach at the University of Phoenix, undergraduate IT courses. As an instructor, I publish my phone numbers, my IM address, and respond to e-mails within 24 hours, and generally much quicker than that. I don't remember EVER having that type of access to any of my instructors, other than my Master's Advisor. As has already been mentioned, there are good and bad instructors out there, especially since intructors in online environments tend to be paid less than the minimum wage (well, we're professionals!!) However, there are also good and bad students out there. There is a small percentage of students who feel that just because the classes are online, that they deserve an A, whether or not they've earned it or not. There are also a lot of students who feel that they deserve an A because of "life experience," but don't even try to learn anything new. All in all, I enjoy teaching at the University of Phoenix. I learn a lot from my students, and my students learn a lot just from helping out each other in the main classroom and on the group projects.

Stanley Young had, and has lawsuits filed against him. You can view this information in numerous places, including Here
New Mexico has found the allegations so damning that they have removed their criminals from Mr. Young's Supermax prison.here

So, why is it libel for the Hartford Courant to report that a public official has had a lawsuit filed against him? Especially a public official that is running such a contreverial system?

Let's not forget that there are entire companies out there that make their bread and butter, helping non-porn small companies, and even some large companies get e-commerced enabled

Not all companies have the time and abilities to get through all the paperwork, much less set up the technological infrastructure to be able to create a payment processing system.

  5. The funniest thing that I've read in a long time on California + Oracle = $95 Million Fiasco · · Score: 1

This article is hillarious. Logicon gets crucified because the California IT department doesn't know what it's own software costs are, come on. What a total and complete joke.
I don't know who Logicon is, but it sounds like the entire problem was with the way IT is being managed in California.

  6. My biggest desire on The Secure Public Data Repository? · · Score: 1
Realistically, there already are several companies in the world which know almost everything about consumers, one of the primary ones being TRW, as a fairly unregulated, and ubiquitous source of data.

Personally, what I would have liked out of Hailstorm, is the ability for the consumer to manage their own information, and more importantly to know who is looking at their information. Now, I know that this is a huge task, but it beats trying to repair a credit report, or figure out if a sherrif's department in podunkville mistakenly put your SSN in on their most wanted list.

The company that I used to work for transferred people every couple of years, and decided to make LDAP maintainable by the employees themselves. This resulted in a directory system that was really useful most of the time. The alternative system, waiting for HR to actually update the information in the corporate directory was a nightmare.

    Just my .5 cents

  8. Re:Looks like someone doesn't like Campbell... on Star Wars as Pulp Sci-Fi · · Score: 1
People have been writting heroic epics for millenium, without having Campbell classify it as an heroic epic.

Why can't people just leave Star Wars as a really good movie, that just happened to touch on several fairly deeply ingrained architypes. So what, George borrowed pieces from every thing else, Star Wars is still head and shoulder above most of the other drivel that was science fiction movies at the time (dare I mention Barbarella and Logan's Run).

The most annoying thing that I receive is 4-5 cold sales calls a day. I have to screen all my calls now, just to get past the sales people selling me the latest and greatest technical infrastructure, or assembly language programmer, or hosting service in bora bora. STOP COLD CALLING!!!! Brian
