does anyone need to remaster post-release films which contain accidental heads?
If it was an accident, then why make mention of it in the commentary? I know they said it wasn't a political statement, but they could have just glanced over it and probably nobody would have noticed.
If it had been a fake Obama head, there would have been a much bigger uproar. Personally, while I think it was intentional & tasteless, I don't think it deserved as much attention as it got. The directors probably could have gotten away with it if they didn't mention anything about it in the commentaries.
We're moving from a culture that encourages individual learning/mastery/understanding of the things used in life, to one of apathetic dependence on convenient 'service'. This is intellectually stunting, which causes all kinds of other problems.
I was going to make the same point. I have an FM transmitter for my iPhone, and I put it in airplane mode for two reasons: 1) safety--I don't have to deal with the urge to check that new text/e-mail/phone call that's coming in and 2) the cell signal interferes with the stereo, so I get a lot of "Morse code" over the speakers if I don't put it in airplane mode. I listen to music far too often while driving to rely on streaming.
There are a number of things I do like from Microsoft, the Windows Phone just so happens to not be one of them. I really can't stand the Metro (Zune) interface. I like Access, and wish there was a comparable program like it for the Mac. Filemaker is not a good substitute and PHPMyAdmin is a drag. I loved their Intellimouse Explorer mice (had several over the years), which I used with my Macs. They obviously have some good hardware designers, I can't imagine why they couldn't make a better controller for the XBox. The PS3's controllers are way better IMHO.
I have an iPhone charger/radio transmitter that I plug my phone in to on the way back & forth to work. If I leave the phone active, it interferes with the radio signal, so I have to put it into airplane mode if I want to listen to music. No worries about receiving calls or text messages.
What did you drive while looking for a job and while saving for a couple of months?
I was able to arrange rides to and from work during that time. It was a pain in the neck, but worth it in the long run.
$100 is the highest denomination of Federal Reserve Note that has been printed as long as I've been alive.
I didn't know that, but I just looked and see that they stopped distributing denominations larger than $100 back in 1969. Just one of many things I've learned today, thanks!
For one thing, he advises never to go into debt on a car but instead to buy a beater car.
I bought a 2000 Pontiac Bonneville for $2400 cash (taxes & registration included), I've barely had to put anything in to it. I had to save for a couple of months to get it, but that just gave me time to look around more and see what the market was. The only disappointment with the entire deal is the bank would only give me $100's, because apparently bigger bills are only for drug dealers...
in CA i have noticed a lot of gas stations will actually give you a discount for using cash or debit Vs credit card. I have started to carry cash once more...
Our local gas stations (I'm in Michigan) have a $.10 discount per gallon for cash.
I love taking advantage of credit card companies. Free 28 day loans and 1% back are great. I never buy anything on the card that I could not write a check for anyway, so I don't pay interest. I used to go to a mechanic that offered 2% off if you payed cash, so I did there.
Many people like me are too used to getting either a discount or free short term loans to go back to using only cash.
Trust me, the credit card companies aren't giving you that incentive just to be nice. Eventually, most people slip up. They miss a payment and then they're paying the default rate, usually 29.9%, plus late fees, etc., which more than makes up for the 1% they were paying out. Perhaps you're the exception.
A lot of people are starting to pay in cash again simply to get out from under the oppressive thumb of the credit card cartel. It also helps with budgetary discipline, which is why guys like Dave Ramsey are preaching it to the people.
He also lived in the late-18th/early-19th century. Is that where you live?
While I wouldn't hold up Jefferson as the ideal libertarian, in what way is the time he lived relevant to supporting your argument? There were also powerful banks and corporations in his time. The East India Tea Company immediately comes to mind.
A libertarian or jeffersonian does not want to get rid of government. That's an anarchist.
No you just want to shrink it down to where it's so ineffectual as to be non-existent in anything but name...and then not fund it.
A federal government which consisted primarily of providing a part time legislature for handling treaties, a military for national defense (not national offense like Bush & Obama are fond of), and a court system that handled disputes between the states and ruled if people's Constitutional rights had been violated by state laws would be fairly inexpensive, and could probably be supported by a low excise tax on imports. The states or local governments can and should handle virtually every other aspect of government from roads, social services, etc.
Since corporations are a creation of government (via issuance of a license), if anarchists got rid of government, such that it did not exist, neither would corporations exist.
Well, in that case, when your utopia comes I'm sure all those super-powerful corporations with trillions in assets will just go home and hand over power to the people.
Utopia's not an option, and never will be. However, abolishing our current mercantile system which upholds corporations through an onerous income tax system, overbearing regulation, ridiculous intellectual property laws, and other barriers to entry in the market place, along with limited liability (corporations as people), is something most libertarians would be in favor of.
While hacking the polls is one danger, the other danger is gaming it. If his constituents were polled and voted in favor of something he found morally reprehensible, would he still vote in favor of it, or would he claim that the poll broke his way? Who is going to verify the results?
The price of "going green" can't exceed the perceived benefit. I didn't start buying to new CFL light bulbs until the price dropped significantly. Slowly but surely, I'm replacing most of the bulbs in my house. I can't do all of them though, because they don't fit in all of our fixtures, which is the next thing they need to work on.
Republicans are for a smaller government than the Democrats.
Neither one of them are for smaller government. George Bush had a Republican Congress & he increased the size of government. Barack Obama had a Democrat Congress and he increased the size of government. The only time they act interested in reducing government is when they are trying to pander to one of their core constituencies' pet projects, and even then it is insincere.
Neither Ron Paul nor most of his supporters are isolationists. They are non-interventionists. There is a difference. North Korea is isolationist, Switzerland is non-interventionist. Ron Paul and his supporters (including myself) believe in the same thing the founding fathers believed in as far as foreign relations are concerned: "Peace, commerce, and honest friendship with all nations -- entangling alliances with none". - Thomas Jefferson.
The web browser on the PS3 is garbage, looks terrible on my TV screen, and the text hard to read. It has very limited features, and works poorly with sites like Facebook. Not sure how well it does with multimedia sites, since I've only dabbled with it a little bit. Maybe they've made improvements since the last time I used it, but if I want to look something up quickly, I'd rather use my iPhone because the Safari mobile browser is 10x better than the PS3 browser.

I noticed the similarity, but only after I saw a still frame. If nothing had been said in the commentaries, I never would have noticed.
(I didn't say they were good, just better than they will be when you're 40, statistically speaking)
Statistically speaking, you'll be more likely to have a million dollars when you're 40 than when you have just graduated high school.
I was just about to post the exact same thing.

And yet, there's this.

The nanny state is here!
We're way past that.
Oops, accidentally used an opening "quote" tag in place of the closing one. Second quote is mine.
I'm wiling to bet Apple goes after this right away. iTunes uses 'gifting' and I don't think Apple would ever settle with Amazon.

Randians will almost certainly be Libertarians, but Libertarians are not necessarily Randians.
I prefer to call them Randroids.
