Nah, students wont cancel the accounts because they need them, instead what needs to be done is someone file copyright infringement claims against *every* student, and since this rule applies to claims and convictions they will all be required to lose their accounts.. showing how stupid this sort of rule is.
Yeah, you're buying the rights to it, which is an exclusive right.
I could then charge other people money to use that segment of the spectrum the same way google could charge people to use 700mhz after they're awarded rights to it. If i bought blue, I could charge a tax to anyone who uses the color.
So if I'm a tourist going around town with my videocamera, then stop by to see a movie.. I can be arrested for the crime of possessing a video capture device?
What about cellphones, am I going to be arrested if I've got a cell on me that can record video?
The crime should be distribution of copyrighted works, not recording them.
I just looked up the definition of entrapment in the dictionary and it says nothing about government.
entrap (n-trp) tr.v. entrapped, entrapping, entraps 1. To catch in or as if in a trap. 2.
a. To lure into danger, difficulty, or a compromising situation. See Synonyms at catch.
b. To lure into performing a previously or otherwise uncontemplated illegal act.
Umm, I can understand their fears about spying.. but RIMM is a Canadian company based in Waterloo, Ontario, how would the US manage to intercept such information unless the Canadian government was handing it to them.. which seems unlikely.
>Actually yes, honesty is a much more effective sales tool.
I'm going to have to disagree completely.
If you don't think deception works in order to sell products, you haven't looked at corporate culture..
Apple's job isn't to be an unbiased party reviewing it's products and it's competitors products.. Apple's job is to make their products seem the best so that people will want them.
Would you open a restaurant, then tell your customers that, in your opinion, the place next door has better tomato sauce? I mean, common.
Did you really expect apple to say negative things about their own products? I'm a little confused by you calling apple biased towards it's own products.. like.. why wouldn't they be?
I hate spam as much as the next guy, but 11 years in prison is too much, that's a murder's sentence..
If anything, the courts should put him in jail for a few years, take away all the money he's made and make sure he's never allowed near a computer again.

Main difference is ATT has a lot more assets than google.
If google owned an infrastructure as big as att, they would have much higher cost of operation which would drag down their ridiculous profits.

I love you how can buy segments of the light spectrum like that.
you think if I offered the FCC $50 they'd sell me the blue?
Yes, but the copyright rules around reporting on current events are different than regular copyrighted material.
I wonder what the rules are surrounding my site..
Then again, news = current events and current events are not copyrightable..
Slashdot Corollary: As soon as someone makes a joke on slashdot, ensuing replies will modify the joke in order to supposedly enhance it.

Why's it called a down-grade anyway?
Seems like an up-grade or at least a non-grade to me.
"and there are fewer vulnerabilities in Vista than in XP in total"
Vistas been out for a few months; XP has been out for more than half a decade. Obviously there are more known bugs in XP than Vista.

Having two programs sharing the same +10mb xml file, constantly reloading and looking for changes is a big waste of resources..
finding an efficient way to do that is not easy.
heh.. are you like one of those imitation programmers or something?
I wasn't taking about code libraries. I was talking about data files that store the music library.
>And if I want to do exactly that, a program should prevent me from doing so because?
Because it creates more headaches for the programmers who have to deal with two applications that are using the same library file..
Why exactly would you want to have two copies of itunes open at the same time? So you can listen to two songs simultaneously?
Seriously dude, of all the things to complain about that's a really bad example.

Compared to the illegal wiretapping that Bush & Co. were/are doing.. this seems relatively small potatoes..

That would seem more fitting.
I for one welcome our future zombie overlords..
(yeah, it's a tired joke, i know)
Does that mean I can sue the mirror company for making me look so fat and ugly?
And it was very efficient no doubt..
Damn right.
Real web developers make their sites using Assembly! Screw those lame high level languages.
MySQL? Bah! I store my databases in txt files like a real man.
This is interesting. [the United States]... demanding IP? Wow. What are they going to do if their demands (to shut down allofmp3) are ignored? Invade?
