I see very little spam these days, and all I've got to stop it is a lot of stuff he says doesn't work.
Maybe he should actually try some of those ideas before dismissing them out of hand.
He'd have been making a better argument that nothing around does much to stop spammers from sending their spam, but the premise that current systems don't reduce the impact of spam is incorrect. The proof is in what isn't in my inbox.
My registrar is GoDaddy. Every time they "improve" their stupid web interface, it gets harder and harder to enter correct information into their system.
Needless to say, attempts to get them to remove the boneheaded logic errors is an exercise in frustration, but that's probably just an extension of their horrific customer service.
Yes, I'm looking for a new registrar... how'd you guess?
My client is one of the largest (or the) Lincoln dealerships. Ford's hiring of Microsoft to develop their internal systems is the only reason I haven't been able to get rid of Windows there. The Microsoft-designed things like dealerpoint and dealerconnection keep them tethered to Windows.
Ford needs to wise up in a big hurry. Hiring Microsoft is an even bigger mistake than using Microsoft products.
Their working in a government office wouldn't make any difference. You're assuming the fax spammer knows or cares that someone's trying to call them. If anything, they make an effort not to know anyone's calling to begin with. As I said before, you can't reach these people to air your greivances. They're not discriminating between callers. They're not answering the phone.
It's pretty well-known that his parents had been pressuring him to give away his money. His parents believe in an Andrew Carnegie style obligation of the rich to give their money away, and his parents have always been dedicated philanthropists, unlike their son.
You'll notice that for all practical purposes, his dad runs the foundation, Bill III is just the purse.
The accelerated giving however, probably has more to do with Microsoft's legal problems than anything else. Bill Gates needed something to make him look less like the devil incarnate.
Because if we had like this President of the United States dude, and that dude was like the boss of the Executive Branch, which would mean like the DoJ and DoS completely reported to him, and served at the will of the President dude, and then this whole business about how the DoJ can't force the DoS to issue a visa would be complete government nonsense, because they'd have the same boss, and he'd like make it happen.
Too bad we don't have one of those President of the United States dudes, eh?
The idea that diamonds are a time-honored tradition is nonsense also. Many of my grandparents generation wouldn't have dreamed of pissing away money on diamonds. We're talking the 1940's here. This obsession with diamonds is a very new thing, it's just people seem to wallow in their ignorance of even the recent past.
There's no value flowing from Apple to the rest of the world. The Mac users should be taking the Linux users to lunch.
Mac doesn't validate Unix in the enterprise. Unix validates the Mac to those who think of Macs as toys and Unix as serious computing. Those folks would be the execs that make the decisions. Not the people in the art department. They're not consulted on server decisions.
Apparently some moderator on here is a blithering idiot too. How shocking.
Moderator: Prove me wrong. You can't because it's true. And it's hardly a secret David Coursey is a blithering idiot. Do your homework before you go slinging around those moderation points.
For some reason, no one seems to ever know what they're talking about on this subject. (*sigh*)
Evolution uses things other than mbox. In fact, you'd be wise to choose Maildir with Evo, aside from not dealing with the flaws of mbox, it can be much faster. (see the Evo archvies)
We all know the DMCA is illegal and unconstitutional. But "precedence" trumps the constitution. Once a bad law gets on the books, and business depends on it, it's going to stay there no matter how wrong, or illegal that law is.
Remember that law? The reason consumers aren't buying broadband is because they can't get all that music and movies the MPAA/RIAA are desperate to send us due to DSL providers needing to be run out of business.
Thank Billy Tauzin and your other bought-and-paid-for congressmen for the destruction of broadband in America.

I've called plenty of times for plenty of different senders. I have yet to get through to any of them.
Aside from the fact that no one should have to make a call to stop being stolen from, it just doesn't work.
Indeed, Jay is about the most clued-in guy around, and suggesting otherwise is a good way to get people to ignore you.
I hope Bruce re-thinks his comments and retracts them. I'd like to think that's not what he meant to say.

Uhm... Yes.
If that site truly wants to address DMCA abuses, they wouldn't be keeping Apache logs in the first place.

Most of these were probably sold to people that already own computers.
Porting Linux onto these MPAA/RIAA members equipment isn't only a waste of time, it's downright foolish. You're only supporting the MPAA/RIAA.
There's real work that needs doing. Work that isn't working against us.
"Hey look at us, we're patriotic (idiots)!"

I think it's just desperation. Especially on Caldera's part, since they're probably going to be one of the biggest collapses of 2002 or 2003.

David Coursey is a blithering idiot. Surely you can't expect any better from him.
You're badly confused. Actually reading the material would have helped.
#1. This is not about human rights, it's about technical administration.
#2. Democracy is irrelevant here. This isn't about government, it's about administration.
#3. It _is_ ICANN's place to tell other countries how to run their TLD is they want to be on _the_ Internet.
#4. It's _not_ theirs. Where I come from, we call what the South African govt is trying to do theivery.
They can't e-mail you until you've already opted-in, get it? If they're e-mailing you prior to getting your permission, that's spam.
Who's being cynical? Pity those who think think that.

They can take their DMCA-approved Linux and do you know what with it.
