  1. Re:What Quicktime Needs on QuickTime To Get Boost From "More Accurate" Statistics · · Score: 0

You have perfectly stated every single gripe I have about the current, and previous versions of quicktime. These are also the reasons that I refuse to keep it installed on my windows systems. I would also add get rid of the nag screen. I have no use for the pro version, and no intent to voluntarily pay $29 for features I don't want/need. Maybe us non apple users out here should start a petition to get this stuff done like so many disgruntled apple gamers.

Building a cluster out of macs seems like it would be about as cost effective as hiring Bill Gates to come over and fix your PC. When I think parallel computing, I think large quantities of commodity machines, not a mass of what amount to retail/end user machines. Im sure you could build something far faster for far less money than they spent on this cost. Maybe that wasnt the point though i guess.. Maybe they did this because they could...kinda like running a website on a potato.

I've been using pricegrabber http://www.pricegrabber.com/ a lot lately as an alternative to pricewatch. You get the same sort of listing by price, but there are also user ratings of each vendor. That way you don't go and order from some fly-by-night that takes off with your cash, or ships you broken merch.

Read the FAQ on the website. Q: Which key enabling technologies are the priorities in the Open Mobile Alliance? A: The companies involved in the alliance will decide the key enabling technologies jointly. However, it is evident that Multimedia Messaging (MMS), Java and WAP 2.0/XHTML browsing are among the most relevant ones. Some other technologies driving the mobile services market include service enablers such as Digital Rights Management (DRM), authentication, location and presence identification and device management. Either you missed that part, or you think DRM is a good thing?

Feature for feature there are many better deals than this. Considering that this is probably Apple's best value system, they still have a long way to go if they want to come close to being competetive in the real world (e.g. not their current niche market). Budget system users want to be able to get on the internet, write some documents and maybe play some games. They can do that just as well if not faster with a $599 Dell system as they can with a $1100+ Apple system.

Hmm, lets see. An overpriced $1100 stripped down budget system or a well equipped budget system for under 900. C'mon Apple, get real. If you want to charge premium prices, you could at least offer a premium product. I've got a new marketing slogain for you... Apple: Pay more get less.

While the question of why this kind of crap is being put out is valid, I think there is another question we should be asking. Why the hell does a computer mfgr create a machine that attempts to boot off of an unbootable volume? Is there no error checking in the firmware on the iMac? Remind me never to buy an Apple.

Im sure that your G3 plays MacOS games perfectly and that the bottleneck for games on your G3 isn't the cpu. That might have something to do with the fact that MacOS isnt exactly a cutting edge gaming platform. It only stands to reason that game developers wouldn't be pushing next generation games onto a platform that can't fully support them.

I could make the same argument that my Atari 2600 plays it's game perfectly.

Since Apple no longer sells the cube this entire argument is pretty much irrelevant. Even if they did sell the cube, you would be locked into the slow ass G4 CPU. Even in a dual cpu configuration it still can't keep up with a P4 unless yer running unsharp mask in photoshop. And since we are talking about using this as a gaming platform, it makes sense to not use a second rate gaming platform, wouldnt you say?
