I would say mozilla is the poster child of bug submission and feedback.
I believe the number of bugs you find in a project's bug list is in direct relevance to the way that the project members respond to bugs. bugzilla at mozilla is very responsve. Enter a bug and within hours you will get a feedback.
On the other had there are projects where the team is not as responsive. Peng being an example. I posted queris to the forums, posted it to the deleopers, did not get any useful response, which makes me very less likely to sumbit a Peng bug again. Rather use google (geek's best friend) to find a solution.
I guess Redhat's team does not respond to users or they have not advertised it well enough. I came to know about it from this article.
There is also an aura of hostility that is widespread among OSS developers. Or this is the way users think they are. I have a few friends who had a hard time getting help for other stuff that they needed.
Another aspect is that the users of OSS are themselves geeks and techies, so they figure out the problems and do not bother entering bugs for simple things. Sometimes they make a web page out of it somewhere....
I am also applying to Grad school... The plus of this is that I have to give one less test. Many universities (Princeton, Rutgers...) have relaxed their requirements of the subject test.
YAY !!!
If this happens, I will join the effort to port mozilla to TV.
But then again, on second thought, I have been living without TV for almost 2 years now. I get more time to play Quake:)
deleting these is much easier using the Palm desktop companion. I usually delete all stuff from there.
I gree on the limitation (10 KB) of memos... It sucks. Maybe I can accumulate enuff money to get a better one:) The new sony makes me jelous
I recently sat down at Barnes and Noble and tried taking down (hand written) notes from a book. I was *shocked* to find, my hands trembeld as I wrote barely legible characters on the paper.
As soon as I got home, I typed out all the stuff I had written and it took me about 1/4th of the time it took me to actually write those notes down !!!
I am not going to a pen anytime soon. Keyboard will remain my choice of data entry.
Damn... I need to get a palm keyboard soon, do to more of this notes taking stuff:)
About an year back, I was researching Java development for Palm. I was able to write a simple test program (Hello World!) for my Palm IIIc. I did have to load the JVM on it. But Java works on Palm since at least IIIc.
Apmache can work with wii browser, but with a few tweaks. See the discussion at http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-541340.html
I owe most of my karma to SCO
I can't believe you said that aloud!! Now SCO can start suing innocent slashdotters for collecting karma !
GN stands for "Good Night" my friend...
Try using PDAs with USB connectivity. They sync very fast.
I am currently using Zaurus SL-5500, and it just blows away with the sync. (i.e. compared to my old Plam IIIx)
I have been using Palm IIIx for about 2 years now, and I live by it. My appointemnts, reminders, data everything is in my PDA.
:) Zaurus rocks.
I still remember how freaked I was when my PDA broke. I spent the whole day finding ways to salvage data.
Next day, I ordered my Zaurus
I have gotten rid of paper in my personl life due to my PDAs use. Paper is too cumbersome, ineffective, cluttery and environmently determental.
I cannot imagine a day without my PDA.
I have used Sharp Zaurus SL-5500 to capture voice. At low bitrate settings, it creates a small files.
:)
Then you can add in 1 GB Compact Flash cards and have a long conversation recorded
You want to use Linux, get a Zaurus. I have been using it for some time now, and it rocks :)
Works with Linux thru and thru :)
Blackcomb seems to be a long time between releases Looks like they will be concentrating all the evil energies againist Linux ;)

Apparantly, you need to download a newer build. I have 2002100409. Works fine in it...

This looks like a rip off of Cowboy bebop!
I am going with OGG anyway. With better quality, it kicks MP3's patented ass aytime.

Not to far in the future, I see DVD that pay for filled with adverts every 15 minutes, with, of course the fast forward disabled.

Anyone knows if WinCE supports Java
They will have to run it on Linux or it will stop every 10 minutes or so and mandate that you get out of the car and close all doors, then re-enter :)
I repeat what a lot of guys have said: I don't mind these ads, as it keeps google in business.
.com that I used to work for closed last year. I know the pain.
Sometime, I click on these ads to help keep money come to google.
I request all those who want to keep using google to do the same.

White Glove Linux is another similar distro. Ajay
A must read for Linux advocates. I have book marked it in my Linux advocacy section.
