I don't know if you are bound by any kind of non-disclouser agreement with
the NSA, but after seeing an article posted on Yahoo about your "High
Security" version of Linux you are producing, i was wondering if you are
aware of the "full disclosure" clauses of the GPL ( GNU Public Liscense )
that the Linux Operating System was produced under and how you plan on
    handling that liscenses clauses.

It is our intention to be an active, responsible member of the
open source community. Within the constraints this imposes, we
will work with partners to develop new product offerings that
will benefit our customers, our partners, and us. However, we
will also benefit simply by having a Linux based secure operating
system on which to host our products.

Our modifications to Linux will consist of:

    - strong policy enforcement code which is in the kernel
    itself,

    - a flexible policy engine which is structured as a separate
    module

We will open source all the modifications to the kernel as well

as a general-purpose policy engine. We have not determined the

exact functionality of this engine, but it will support a broad

set of basic applications and it will be complete enough too

teach the community how to write other policy engines. We hope

that others will choose to enhance this engine and/or develop

their own policy engines that are optimized for their purposes.

We will keep the policy engines for our products, such as the

    Sidewinder policy engine, proprietary.

Yes it's bad, Yes i disagree with it...and no it shouldn't have been passed, but it's not the end of the world....for instance not ANY Austrialian's computer can be tapped ie: (i) allowing the Minister to issue warrants which may authorise ASIO to:

    - remotely access data that is relevant to security and is stored in a computer specified in the warrant;

hence, there has to be a warrant issued, so they /shouldn't/ ( key word ) shouldn't be snooping around Joe Smoe's computer for no good reason.

What /is/ scary is this: (iii) amending provisions dealing with search warrants to:

    - simplify the description of the matters about which the Minister must be satisfied before issuing a warrant;

Issueing a warrent should /not/ be too easy, because that's what gets it closer to Joe Smoe's computer. Of course one part of the bill /did/ make me laugh:

Because Murder is Murder, hate is an emotion, we should not be punished
for emotion, rather we should be punished for actions ( in this case Murder )

Another person asked me how we can make our schools
safer in the aftermath of tragedies such as Columbine. I said
that I believe the solutions range from tough measures to get
guns away from kids and criminals, to more discipline and
values in our schools, to more self-restraint in the use of
gratuitous violence in the entertainment media, to more
parental involvement in the lives of our children--which of
course means we need to give working parents more help in
    balancing work and family.

How about we value differences, How about we let faith take the forefront
in daily lives, how about we teach our children rather then control them, and
how about teaching that it's OKAY for a mother to stay at home, that it's OKAY
to spank a child who's misbeahving? What about that Mr. Gore?
