    2020 is 30 years shy of the predicted date of The Grand Unified Theroy and 30 is ( coincedently i'm /sure/ ) The Age Linus is going to be at the launch of the Crusoe ;-) It's all coincedence trust me. I know nothing, and if i told you all i knew, i'd have to kill ya.

    On the fact that Windows 3.1/95/98 are NOT OSes and are simply GUIs running on top of MS-DOS. Maybe they'll file an injuction so MicroSoft has to call it the Windows GUI System rather then the Windows OS? *S*

    Anyone get an image of this guy going the way of Lore form ST:TNG? Aside from that, i'm not looking at the aspects this has for cybernetics, what about androids? If you can replicate you can create, we could have some very lifelike robots coming up here in the next few years if these experiments are successful, not to mention a better understanding of ourselves, this is actually exciting. BUT the big brother issues ARE very scary, now he CAN watch you, and your heart rate and your sugar level, not to mention he can tell what EMOTION you're feeling....hmmm...thoughts can't be far away from that. Of course then we can get those very cool telepathy implants....of course with the cell phones causing long term memory loss ( see earlier slashdot article ) imagine what CELL (Cellular Electronic Long-range Listener/broadcaster) phones might do?

    Anyone remember the scene from Sneakers where Whistler had that braille terminal...very nice....and does anyone else see the irony of blind people sueing to see something that has historically been a graphic oriented medium....point and click is just a little difficult when you can't see to point...of course i can understand the alt tags being used, etc, etc, not to mention the character/speech programs...why not have a program that "describes" that could be intresting...okay....i'm done now...bye bye

    Baba O'Riley is an early example of this AKA "Teenage Wasteland", during an early concert of this song, someone ( Baba O'Riley ) was taken out of the stands and some of his personal data was entered into the synth to come up with the backing track, this is some pretty cool stuff, and i need to clarify something, CLAPTON is god, Jimmy Hendrix is his archangel, and Townshed is his only begotten son. ;)

    Let's see....Linux is free, W2K costs an arm and a leg? Could it be? Could it finally have happened? MicroSoft is so drunk with it's own success it doesn't realize that regular consumers aren't millonaires too? Comeon, those prices are RIDICULOUS...good thing i have a CD burner ;) W2K will cost me just as much as Linux *LMFAO* But really how do they expect to charge consumers like that?

    Yes it's nice that RealNetworks apologized, but they shouldn't have been collecting that kind of data to begin with, of course you have to give them kudos for making the patch, kinda makes you wonder if they hadn't already had it developed? like maybe they knew they were going to get caught sooner or later so they had a solution already made, ready to get it out, something of a PR move perhaps? ah well, the fact remains they could have said, screw you, we're going to collect the data if want to pppttthhh, but they didn't. Any company that can admit they were wrong deserves a little respect.
