    That would make sense, if there weren't any ground based telescopes now that have better resolving power than the hubble.

    They can't pick up a few bands that are filtered out by the atmosphere, but you're acting like the hubble is the only worthwhile telescope in the world. The ones in Hawaii look fantastic from where I'm sitting.

    AND the Bush administration has increased the budget for the sciences. Doesn't sound like bible thumping fundies to me.

    Connecting to the Mini Mac via VNC is an exercise in patience.

    It's surprisingly slow on a network. Over a cable modem is something you do only when you have no other option.

    Historically, girls were married off at an average age of 13. First child had at an average age of 15.

    Oh, one more thing. I hang out on a forum that's mostly women. They thought that one scene in the girls bathroom with the two boys was *really* sexy. To the point where they were embarrased that they wanted to have sex with box under the age of consent.

    I'm still waiting for the howls of outrage.

    I missed FireFly when it was being broadcast.

    After hearing about it, I downloaded about 9 episodes. Loved them.

    Then I heard that the DVD set was available on Amazon for 35$. Erased my downloaded copies and bought the DVDs.

    I would of never bought the DVDs without having pirated the episodes first.

    Movie rentals are 4.50 these days, how the heck did you get an average of 5? I say it's closer to 8$.

    As a fan, I've been doing my part. I've been loaning out my DVDs to anyone who likes sci-fi. 100% positive feedback. Plus, they all plan on seeing the movie.

    If you want Firefly to come back, you have to get more people interested in it.

    We in the US are not doomed. There will be a global adjustment as the US standard of living goes down some and the rest of the world goes up some.

    Countries who's laws do not favor business, and require businesses to bribe officals, will never become powerhouses until they clean up their acts.

    The EU??? Have you been looking at the economic growth of the EU in the past 20 years compared to the US? Hell, just look at their proposed consitution (Several hundred pages) and you can tell that they're too socialistic to *at this time* to ever become a viable competitor. Just the VAT tax alone sucks an enormous amount of energy out of their economy.

    China and India are on their way to becoming 1st world countries? Great! I look forward to the huge amounts of trade that will happen between all of us.

    Just curious, what country *wasn't* tainted with slavery?

    Even the Native Americans kept slaves.

    And if you're honestly upset about slavery, well do something about it. Slavery is more widespread now than ever before.

    And it's not a play on the word "Slavery". But honest "I bought and paid for your ass and your life is mine."

    Because you said you stripped out stuff from unix, and added a ton of stuff.

    We were talking about the OS. You compared removing stuff from the OS, and tossing in programs as an improvement to the OS.

    My point is that almost none of the stuff you talked about has anything to do with how the OS runs. They're simply programs that run under that OS, and can be ported to Unix.

    And Unix would remain Unix.

    Notice how all those countries who were "exploited" back in the 80s now are much better off and are headed to 1st world status.

    From a 1st world view, these jobs are horrible. From a 3rd world view, these jobs rock.
