Well, it would be interesting to see the introduction of the Flipflop Party (their animal could be a fish) that espoused no particular goal other than empowering the will of the people (by way of internet polls).
“The Tor client does all of the work,” Geffner said. “Tortialla(sic) redirects TCP and DNS traffic through Tor ensuring nothing else gets out. I wouldn’t call it a plug in; it does communicate with the Tor client over the SOCKS port Tor opens up, but it’s not a plug in.”
It sounds like their intent is to prevent the target malware sites from knowing your IP address while allowing the full impact of its flash/java/js payload to attack your machine. The idea being that such malware sites identify and block addresses that are identified with security research, law enforcement, etc... while existing Tor networks interfere with receiving the full brunt of their attack.
Though I would think that if I were a successful TV actor, that my publicist or assistant would be charged with maintaining a Twitter feed and an official Facebook page for me. I would expect to use social media as a revenue stream just like any other official public appearance or interview.
Just the controversy. The news, buried at the bottom of the article, is that AnTuTu has a newer version that drops Intel performance back to where it was before.
Encryption is certainly not a magical spell. It's maths vs money (raw cpu power). If money could beat maths all the bitcoins would be computed already for a tidy profit.
You don't think a single GTX770 4GB (or a single Titan) could do the job, though? If you're capped at 30fps I'd think all that matters is minimum FPS at the resolution.
That 30fps max wouldn't faze me either, I'd think owners of SLI powered rigs might be turned off by it for gaming, but a single GTX770 4GB card would probably match up well with it at 2160p30.
No, I even considered renting cars vs buying. We have sharecars that sit in the lightrail park-n-rides and Enterprise (We'll Pick You Up) . It's not doable unless I live in a society that does more than present the option of biking. Jobs are still going to want me on call 24/7 with a 15 minute response onsite. If I have to wear a suit and not arrive with helmet hair the bike's not an option. The lack of mobility caused buy giving up a personal car would be fatal, somewhere between starving to death and suicide.
I'll bike because it keeps me healthy and helps the environment (that keeps me healthy too), but I'm not going martyr myself on the Green Altar that demands a sacrifice.
There are days, when the streets are sheets of ice, that I drive to work. But they are remarkably good at clearing them here if it isn't dumping for days. Cold doesn't bother me much though.
Summer's over 100F so you'll stink.
And we get some extreme winds (60mph+) seasonally. That makes biking "difficult" or blast depending on which way I'm going.
You probably defecate more unspent calories than riding a bike would consume and you'll burn off the fat getting around, instead of doing exercises that waste your time anyway.
That said, a normal person in the US can't give up their car, even if they choose to bike most places. I live in an almost ideal place for bicycling. I can bike commute to work (I'm a mile from light rail). I can bike over to the store for a sixpack and be back in about the same time as it would take to drive there and back. I still need a car, I don't exist on work and beer alone.
I was looking at HP workstation laptops (elitebook 8570w) this morning. They were all advertised with Win8pro downgrade licenses shipped with Win7pro preinstalled. I wonder if those will count as Win8 sales or Win 7.
So they patented tracking an easily traceable file transfer protocol. One that everyone knows leaves them open to easily provable lawsuits if they use it to pirate stuff.
So are they going to sue Comcast over this? Or does Comcast have prior art?
I don't think sending self replicating machines would be any more "evil" than sending the self-replicating people that would design them. With a machine you could at least tell it not to wipe out an indig population in an conflict over mutual survivability. You can't expect the current model of humans to do that.
I would wonder about the agenda of that book. The desire to write down analytical introspective ideas about thought processes go back at least to the Greeks. Earlier writings may have focused on accounting or thought control through mythology but there is at least evidence of a sentience in the latter.
Personally I think slavery is an essential part of a republic to imperial roman themed spaceopera.
It's odd that these guys focus on the droids when so many people were also slaves in the movies. It's almost like that dark joke about Hitler gassing 5 million Jews and one chicken...

What could possibly go wrong?

Anyways that's how I read it.

Sounds like they are planning to create more hardware of their own and focus on supporting that hardware.
So are they planning to sell the Xbox One as a combo PC/Console?
Just the controversy. The news, buried at the bottom of the article, is that AnTuTu has a newer version that drops Intel performance back to where it was before.
It's a bungled quote. RTFA.
Or is this a share and share alike thing (of HD space).
Cause if it's the latter I'm not going to be able to help out. I've never ever had any HD space that wasn't being pruned.
It's included in my rent, so I pretty much have to move or hire a lawyer (gonna cost more than Comcast does in a year).
What are the alternatives?

Sounds nice.

I take it you picked up one of the new $1200 4K Seiki SE50UY04 sets?
I'd be fine if they just reserved the name for any planet in the Eridanus systems.

And biking at night is suicidal.

Star Wars slaves. Possibly sentient Robots. All the Fett clones under the command of Yoda. Obi One freed Vader but left his mom a slave.
The robots were at least programed to be slaves.
I wish my school had been donated Apple II computers, we got Commodore Pets with tape drives.
I don't see the point. Is your HP Touchpad not holding a charge anymore?
My neighbor owns his own truck. Give him an autopilot he'll still probably ride along. Someone's got to fix the flats and monitor the load.
