Would it be a great scientific discovery? I guess we'd have to see it to know, but I'd imagine it to be kind of a neat story in the newspaper, but essentially irrelevant to science, and then half-forgotten a year later.
The people in charge of Nintendo's business are CEOs and MBAs, not Samurai or Ronin or whatever Japanese stereotype you're thinking of here. In the end it comes down to dollars and yen and what makes the most financial sense, not a sense of pride or traditional Japanese-ness.
Greencine already rents out porn, although the main focus is foreign and indie titles. The idea of renting porn dozens of other people have had their hands on doesn't sound appealing to me.
Why? Everybody knows Hitler is thrown into discussions only when they have no actual merit. "Hitler was a vegetarian!" is true, but essentially says nothing useful about being a vegetarian, while throwing in a lot of unrelated propoganda.
If there's a legitimate point of comparison to be made, invoking Hitler is fair, although generally useless or even worse. Pol Pot & Saddam Hussein were frequently compared to Hitler - a comparison may sort-of-fit either, but it really warped the reality of their situations.
As a comparison, your earlier "The US is Fascist!" post was entirely useless as a historical comparison, and obviously boiled down to a dogmatic way of saying "I don't like George Bush." People have been hearing that shit for 50 years and it's just stupid.
Slashdot already got rid of Michael, who was crazy but slightly entertaining in a at-least-he-isn't-my-neighbor sort of way. Timothy can't edit for shit, why not get rid of him as well? I doubt he has a single defender.
It's been all of half a day since he posted his last dupe story - the original story was on the front page at the time. It's obvious he doesn't care.
You're kidding. Who wants to live in the middle of the fucking woods? For many people it's nice to be able to easily drive to an area with outdoor sports (which is true in the Bay Area), but most people wouldn't want to fucking live there.
For all the people who talk about how great it is, only meth addicts and those to stupid and poor immigrants who can't get a better job actually live in rural areas.
Simple - because the same people who talk about these disasters that could almost wipe out earth, are the same people who talk about devising an anti-asteroid protection grid for Earth. They have to spread a little FUD or people would laugh them out of the building.
An excellent piece of filmmaking? It was an excellent piece of marketing. If Michael Moore's name and acumen for publicity hadn't been attached, it would have been airing on Community Television.
But really, 95% BS? I'd love to hear your breakdown.
Gas is already taxed, and gas guzzling cars already pay higher registration fees. So unless this were to replace those taxes, gas-guzzling cars would still pay more in taxes.
It's a moot point anyway, because this is an idle idea rather than something that has mainstream support or any chance of becoming law in California. Angry stories like these would completely discredit Slashdot as a news source except Slashdot has no credibility anyway.
It sells for the same price as Normal Windows, on the same shelves as Normal Windows, and even if people pick it up by accident, of course the store clerks are going to make sure they know it's just a crippled version selling for the same price. No OEMs will support it.
Doesn't the EULA hav better things to do with their time than harass American companies with meaningless bits of anti-business legislation?
It's a Russ Meyer T&A slasher flick called "Beyond the Valley of the Dolls," and it stinks on ice.
Yer fucking kidding me. Have you really seen the movie? It's a camp classic. And not in the so-bad-that-it's-good kind of way, but in a so-good-that-it's-good kind of way.
Win CE devices are going to continue dropping in price as they become more common
Seems to me, the general trend in PDAs has been to get more and more expensive. You can buy them for $600+.
Sure they could probably sell the equivalent of a Palm III for $20 if they really wanted to, but the trend is to add more and more features, the price creeping higher and higher.
Funny, I subscribe to the NY Times and was just reading the article a minute ago.
Before the inevitable "video games are replacing movies" posts, it's worth noting that this has already been attempted and didn't go anywhere. Disney and Dreamworks (and others, to a lesser extent), sold off their movie divisions last decade. And these video games are clearly being driving by the movie market, rather than movie studios having decided they're in the wrong industry.
What's the story here? The RIAA sued somebody for violating copyright. The person had died in the meantime, so they withdrew the lawsuit. Nobody acted out of place and Cowboy Neal is getting increasingly desperate trying to imagine the RIAA as an evil force.
If he wasn't running Slashdot, he'd be making one of those crazy websites about how the Masons or the Lizard People are secretly taking over our government. Crikey man, get a grip.
Why do you think post-Soviet Russia's quality of life is any better than it was before? Do you have any idea what you're talking about? Seems to me, you're just mentioning various enemies of the US government, without any real knowledge. The idea that the US media is somehow pro-Iraq, Iran, China, Cuba, etc., and you have an inside scoop to straighten us out, is absurd.
Does this mean we can sue timothy for posting countless dupe stories?

True! Wikipedia is a great source for trivia! For instance, in-depth discussions of Slashdot trolls, the censorious tendencies of political extremists, pseudo-historic conspiracy theories forwarded by Russians, random pieces of misinformation put in obscure articles, and conflicting "facts" standing side-by-side in the same paragraph!

Wow, I thought only stoned teenagers talked like that.

Thanks for keeping us updated. Please feel free to post to a public forum when you get a new wireless mouse.

Why is a reasoned response to a knee-jerk GEORGE BUSH SI A FASCIST!!! post moderated "troll"?

Carpooling? Riding bikes? You've never been to California, have you?

An ongoing boycott of Amazon? You and who else?

Why is this bad? It's worked well against organized crime, why not try it against organized cyber-crime?
But, none of these 7-8 comments are actually funny, what gives?
