Most C** are idiots. Is it now news that one makes/made an intelligent decision? I didn't read the whole article, but from my experience, some people 'convinced' him and now he takes the credit.
Exactly. When someone finds a bug in our software and it's my fault, I usually get embarassed or mad at myself (or the testers depending on the exact nature of the bug and how reasonable it would have been for them to have found it during test.) To the person who found and reported the bug, I feel grateful, even if they are a total dick about it.
Gee whiz. That's great for you and your little PHP blog that you use to write stories about your cat and host pictures of last week's bbq. However, that is not such a simple solution to someone who has 6 cabinets packed floor to ceiling with 1Us.
$idea will not help cut down on spam. In fact, it is detrimental. This has been know for $num_years years, but I feel I must prove that I am really smart by writing an article about it.
Congratulations! You're violating RFC 1122 - Requirements for Internet Hosts and as such should not expect anything to necessarily work correctly!
3.2.2.6 Echo Request/Reply: RFC-792
Every host MUST implement an ICMP Echo server function that receives Echo Requests and sends corresponding Echo Replies
You know what? I don't give a good goddamn about RFC 1122. Our servers get pounded on every port that is open, every day, since forever. Cutting off ping reduces it dramatically. So, by violating that particulary RFC, I do have a more wonderful day.
If this is true (or even if it isn't), why the hell would you broadcast that to the planet? I'm sure he wants to keep this discreet. It's nobody else's business.

Each day you spend working on something else, move your 'Project Completion Date' magnet one day forward. Be careful though - if you do something else on Friday, be sure to move the magnet to Monday, not Saturday.
How does Red Hat make money again. Seriously. Who are their big clients, what are the primary services they provide?
Dell ships computers with Red Hat Enterprise Linux which I assume they buy from Red Hat. In fact, I am posting from one right now. Dell is also nice enough to provide shrink a wrapped RHE disk set which we install on our IBM x-series servers.
So I really can't help you. I like to worry about one thing at a time. When I first started using linux as a desktop machine in 1999, I worried about copy and paste. Fast forward 6 years, and I am still worrying about it.

Didn't you read the whole article?
When pressed for more details on the subject, one vice president answered, "That's when your....heap.....overflows? Right?"
What were they thinking? "Oh, shit our OS isn't secure?"

I couldn't resist.

Strange.
Dear Mr. Pussyjuice,
What exactly happened on March 24th, 2005? Apparently, you snapped at your 40th comment.
Sincerely,
Neil Blender
By the way, I love your posts.
All spiders are going to ignore your ROBOTS.TXT file. Instead, they look for a file called robots.txt.

You are seriously resorting to Slashdot for advice on the impacts of installing a cell phone tower?
To whom it may concern,
Please allow me to waste ten seconds of your life.

The next it's "OMG WHERE'S MY EMAIL?!?!?!" Make up your minds.

Massive downloading of security fixes, I assume.

You can do that? I thought you had to make routers, firewalls and mp3 servers out of them.

And it shows:
Isn't it unusual for Open Source developers to be paid?
No, it isn't unuusal at all.

Not possible. WalMart customers are the walking dead.
