  1. Samsung p1500 on Blu-ray Update Sent To User Via Credit Card Records · · Score: 1, Interesting

I purchased the p1500 about 3 months ago (piece of crap) and returned it 24 hours later (it was incapable of playing the iron man bluray). I upgraded to the ps3 and haven't had a problem since. LIke the original poster I didn't give them a name or anything other than paying with my debit card (which apparently is tantamount to giving them your name address date of birth, ss#, eye color, height, weight and sexual orientation), about a month after i returned it, i received a letter in the mail from samsung asking me to complete an online questionnaire about my experience with the p1500. Not the same as the OP, but samsung still knew where i lived even though i gave my debit info to best buy. So who's to blame here, samsung or best buy?

  2. Response to Microsoft hostile takeover on Yahoo Offers All-You-Can-Eat Storage and Bandwidth · · Score: 0

I think this may be the fruits of Yahoo's discussions with Google. And not really in an attempt to combat google on any front, but to prevent Microsoft from offering $31/share to buy Yahoo out. Yahoo is doing everything in their power to either force microsoft to offer more than #31/share (which comes out to nearly 45 billion dollars) or force Microsoft to drop its bid for takeover. Google announced last week that it would be helping Yahoo to develop plans to thwart the MS attempt, and this might be -one- of the results of those talks. -music, movies, microcode (software), and high speed pizza delivery.

  20. Err, how bout a real upgrade. on Satellite Radio - XM vs. Sirius? · · Score: 2, Interesting

I was looking at satellite radio stuff the other day (not to actually buy just to see what it's all about), and came to the conclusion that it's really not worth it. It would be a stretch to say that you'll like all the music that XM can offer, so I think it would be appropriate to say that you probably only like 1 or 2 genres of stuff that will be streaming nonstop over satellite. For what you're paying (and will pay as it is a monthly service) you might as well invest in an indash mp3 player (these days you can actually get a head unit that plays CD/mp3s/DVDs pretty cheap), get a modest 10" sub an amp, and play all the music you want in a true 'upgrade'[d] environment.
