No, you don't. You have no ability to help develop the code and that is what is needed right now. I don't see how bashing the hard work of volunteers helps anything. Those who can't, bitch about it on Slashdot I guess.
For anyone who prefers a free driver, nvidia isn't even an option. The open source ATI driver is very good, and Xorg CVS now has Gatos for ATI All In Wonder cards merged in. ATI should be putting big resources behind Xorg, because its reputation in the Linux/FOSS community hinges on the fate of that driver.
With the willingness of the Xorg team to finally address some of the issues people have been bitching about all these years, ATI has an opportunity to be the leader in Linux graphics drivers again. We need to point this out to ATI very loudly, and invitingly. These ATI are teh suxxors stories don't help one bit.
...than us spending $100 billion a yaer on nuclear weapons is on ours, a missile defense program would still be effective in the end.
Makes sense if it is effective in the end. Otherwise its just a huge waste of money and resources that might have otherwise been effective in the beginning.
And the United States wonders why we're [Canada] reluctant to join the missile defence programme...
No, I think they know full well why we are reluctant. Just look at whose country they plan to shoot these potentially nuclear missiles down over. This isn't our defense system. A better defense system for us would be to sabotage the thing, and wave as the missile flies over.
after all, the standard client isn't engineered for that sort of environment, is it?
But Netscape is, and they already own that. So now they're building a browser based on IE, and a media player independent of Winamp. What is wrong with these people?
I hope your translation is better than the Babel Fish one.
Undersigned organisations make themselves look concerning this intention and want you indicate on the negative impact which such a contract has on the software market and the innovation climate in the Netherlands. Also such a contract in fight with by the cabinet has been determined policy with respect to open standards and open source at the government and striving the government less dependent use some a software supplier. Moreover Microsoft have been correctly condemned by the European Commission now because of the poor interoperability of its server software.
Funny, I had an argument with a friend last night about whether IBM was "in trouble" or not. I find it very strange that a company could post $89.1 Billion in revenue for 2003, and people would think the sky was falling. Compare that with MSFT's $32 Billion.
It's only illegal to break encryption if it forms an effective copyright protection measure
Contrary to popular belief, not everybody lives in the U.S. either. There are no laws against defeating encryption here, so whats to stop me from doing that, and re-sharing it with the rest of the world?
A few C&D letters will cool off most people who have neither the money or inclination to fight a protracted court battle.
But how well does that really work? That has been the strategy so far with ed2k/overnet, and they're no closer to shutting that down than before they started. You kill one site, and a bunch of new ones show up in its place.
These maybe? I'm pretty curious myself, because nobody in #firefox on GimpNet seems to know either.
MozillaNews mentions a workaround, but that doesn't solve the problem for me if I start with a fresh profile, and I don't recall ever having done that with this profile either.
But there is nothing as irritating as a splash screen that is always-on-top
I second that. They should do like the Gnome splash screen, and make it dissapear as soon as you click on it. Occasionally it hangs around until you click on it though, maybe skip that "feature".;)
Maybe at the time of submitting there was exactly 666, with more expected to arrive? The number of the beast seems apropriate for The Gimp anyway. Anyone know what Gimp is? A person who limps?
Yes, that is what I want to use...
No, you don't. You have no ability to help develop the code and that is what is needed right now. I don't see how bashing the hard work of volunteers helps anything. Those who can't, bitch about it on Slashdot I guess.
He didn't exactly say "ATI are teh suxxors"
I was referring to the headline. Pardon me, it said they are crap, not suxxors.
ATI drivers for cards later than 9200 (IIRC), that have any 3D support, are not free either. And they will never be
See the R300 driver effort here.
If he would want both 3D and the AllInWonder features - he will have to alternate between different drivers
Or he'd buy an older card. Thats what ATI doesn't see, the many of us who just don't upgrade because the driver won't work.

Best Buy Canada: $49.99 CDN = $40.61 USD
Best Buy USA: $49.24 CDN = $39.99 USD
Interestingly, when you look at CDR's they are cheaper here:
Best Buy Canada: $24.95 CDN = $20.246 USD
Best Buy USA: $28.29 CDN = $22.99 USD
Of course we get stuck with 14% sales tax on top of that, but the price should be higher with the levy included here I would think.

And spend it on what exactly? Feeding the homeless? Inner-City Schools? ... but many (The Left) doesn't realize that throwing money at it wont fix it.
How about don't spend it, its my fucking money in the first place.
Its too bad that many (The Right) would rather divert your attention than address the stupidity of the plan.
I've watched a calculus prof reduce many female students to tears...
And you have never seen a female use tears to play on someones emotions and get their own way?
I was once naiive like you.
You misspelled mplayer. =)
No you misspelled MPlayer. But AOL owns Winamp, not MPlayer.

Yikes.
IBM made $7B in profit on $89B in revenue. MS had $8B in profit on $36B in revenue.
Except that they've got some pretty hefty settlements to dole out yet.
$750 million to AOL/Netscape
$600 million to the EU
$1.6 billion to Sun
$1.1 billion to California class action
Did I miss any?
The problem with IBM is ...
With that much cash, I wish I had their problems.
IBM's not too worried about staying in the black.
Funny, I had an argument with a friend last night about whether IBM was "in trouble" or not. I find it very strange that a company could post $89.1 Billion in revenue for 2003, and people would think the sky was falling. Compare that with MSFT's $32 Billion.

mine always stays there until I click on it.
Usually you can log out, and delete ~/.gnome2/session from the console and it will stop doing that.
I'm sick of answering this question, so check the updated picture if you want.
Damn. Always preview. This story on MozillaNews I mean.
(This 2 minute Slashcode post delay rule is really stupid BTW, and I'm not a cowboy.)

Haven't you seen Pulp Fiction?
Believe it or not, no. Travolta will always be Barbarino to me, and thats the way I like it.
Up your nose with a rubber hose.

Hehe. Not at all, I was quite surprised to see IE load at all to tell you the truth.
Excuse me? What the hell was that rant for? It works exactly as I expect it to.
I think you should not be allowed to use WINE sir
I'm not sure you should be allowed to use Slashdot, since you're obviously having a bad day/month/year.
