    a mate of mine has one of these installed in his car. Its genuinely impressive, all the usual stuff (location bookmarks, voice nav, street labels etc...) plus a nice looking faux-3d map thing
    Great thing is, you can load it up with a list of fixed speed-cameras (we live in the UK, these things are a pain!), it'll warn you when you get withing 400 meters of one

    Funny thing happened though, we drove into a carpark with it, must have lost GPS lock or something as the map started spinning around wildly in a confused way....

    Still cool though.

    might i suggest RECYCLING the junk? think about it, if there were some easy way to extract raw materials from these (refining the junk down to super concentrated crap), surely it'd save bringing more stuff up later?

    You can do your part to reduce the load by adding doubleclicks ad-servers to your /etc/hosts file as 127.0.0.1 (this can be done in windows too).
    you'd think someone would have put this in a windows/outlook virus by now...

    what about adapting something similar to bluetooths frequency hopping system. Bluetooth frequently switches channels (something like 60 times a sec IIRC).

    What if the sender and receiver on a wired network switched ports like this? Both have a passkey that generates a psuedorandom stream, which can be used to decided which ports to use.

    Use the liquid H to cool the motors AND generate the electricity needed to run them...

    This thing is retailing at about 900 at the moment.
    I've been messing with Vj stuff for a few months now, its all quite cool.

    I picked up a mixman dm2 controller for about 40, grabbed a copy of dm2midi so it generates MIDI commands. Link this in with Resolume and you can scratch/mix/mess up video for waaay cheaper than the pioneer box.

    On the other hand, it ties up my laptop and cant scratch DVD's. But hey, its less than half the price.
