  1. Not Only on Getting Groovy -- Playing Records without a Needle · · Score: 1

    has this BEEN DONE BEFORE
but it was done more then a few years ago, AND posted on /.
and the sound quality from the photo's sucks, but it's there. but why bother with crappy sound and scanning LP's when you can get a laser turntable?
which have been around for a lot longer then people like to think.

  2. might be redundant, but, this has been done. on Gyroscope Gives CellPhones 'Tilt Control' · · Score: 1

    and better too.

they have had -solid state- tilt sensors for a while, in fact they had them in Palms with this nifty tilt game that was like those old marble puzzles.

well technicaly, they dident have them in palms, it envolved opening the palm and soldering the sensor in, tho there was a dongle version in development like, four, five years ago...

no, fuckwits eating monkeys is how aids spred to humans.
probably fuckwits with the same level of intelegence as the average anonymous coward =P
and for all you know, if it was someone fuckign a monkey, it coulda been a straight guy woth a female monkey...

on another related note, i dislike cencorship as much as the next /.er, but homophobic peices of shit like this should be deleted. theres a difference between free speach and being ignorantly obcene (or obcenely ignorant, as with this case...) an just plain obnoxious, stupid and disgusting...

PS. for the record, i'm bi

PPS. no, i dont fuck monkeys...

PPPS. if i find out who you anonymous cowards are. i will hunt you down and kill you, have a nice day =D

  6. Re:"wardriving is not a crime" hmmm on Worldwide WarDrive Aftermath · · Score: 1

i think the term stems from "wardialing"

the practice of dialing up a shizenload of phone numbers in seacrh for numbers where modems pick up, then dail into those and poke around.
i myself wasent all that knowledgeable about things back when that actualy yielded results, being about 11 years old...

course, i dont know why they called it wardialing...
maby the programs started out repeatedly dialing one number to piss someone off, then were modified a bit to dial every number in an exchange...
    would explain things...

or it could be completely unrelated and was coined cos it sounded cool =P

has anyone pointed out there in the process of launching a new, more powerfull, more accurate GPS system to replace the one currently in opperation? just because some decade old technology doesent work with UWB interferance doesent mean the new system will. course, if it doesent, then theyve just wasted there money on a new, useless GPS... (i think this was posted on slashdot. coulda just been in new scientist or summin) and hell, the third generation of GPS will prolly work on a UWB pulsed radar system anyhow. and the US military seems to like UWB pulsed radar. seeing as they've made a few "look through this here wall" devices and a more accurate then current GPS can hope to be tracking system using UWB. (this was in a slashdot post about half a year ago... linked to fullertons homepage too.) UWB has more uses then just damn fast wireless networking.
