The Governor's proposal would either repeal the Department of Revenue regulation that distinguishes between a sale and a license of software or create an entirely new tax on revenues from software licensing.
Umm I cant even recall the last time someone offered me software for 'sale' all I ever see is licensed copies. So the above definition would be irrelevant anyway?

The Trouble with RFID
·
· Score: 1
With RFID we are now faced with situation where a simple globally unique tag is assigned to each RFID tag and can be tracked with simple electronics. A store can track your every movement with a dozen carefully placed receivers by tracking the RFID tag embedded in the soles of your shoes.
So what youre really saying is you are afraid they will track you stopping in front of the tampax display? Or is it the preperation H? Regardless as much as I hate things like 'Club cards' etc they are something marketing types are slowly craming down our throats. If you dont like RFID's and Groc stores do, prepare to pay a premium for products that arent tagged.
On the flip side of things, think about the good they can do. The average moronic criminal wouldnt have a clue about removing one of these bad boys, now imagine that one passed by a rfid reader right before they kidnapped someone. Hmm might be a good thing to be able to track or locate them.
And how about those long lines at checkout? If every product had a RFID who would need a checker. Place each item one at a time on a belt. The RFID passes by a reader and get scanned (the equiv of a checker scanning your barcode for you). Then it gets bagged. Simple, neat, and probably as fast as you can load the belt and bag the groc.
I dont like getting finger printed to drive either but in most places its now manditory. Your privacy is an illusion, lets move forward.
Belkinware 2.0 dramaitcally enahcnes your browsing experience by subjecting you to unwanted...err targetd advertising. How does it do this? Why since the router is typically the last component between you and the internet we monitor all http requests and on certain purchasable key words (contact us for rates)it will return your paid for ad!
Since people rarely monitor traffic between their routers outbound port and the internet no one will know we are secretly passing this market research information back to a central repository where you too can purchase marketing research for pennies on the dollar.
Know What Your Potential Customers Are Shopping For!
All of this can be yours when Belkinware 2.0 hits the shelves!
True on MS not enforcing. Yet being one operative word here.
Now lets say I have an innovative idea based on something covered in this vauge (at best) patent. Do you think I will find any investors to help me develop it if I disclose it may infringe on a MS patent? So only MS can innovate (and subsequently profit) on their patented ideas.
Ok we have all this wonderful file sharing technology avalible, why not put it to good use. Why not build a distributed black list. One that is shared over an automated file sharing network similar to Napster or Kazaa. DDOS only works with a target, with 100 or more geographically diverse machines sharing it I wish them luck. Make being able to access the list depend on your willingness to share it out too. Of course someone would have to figure out the infrastructure but this would rock.
I am currently an IS Support Analyst for one of the largest publishers in the country. My current role isnt one of choice rather one I aquired becuse of my company being bought out and the center I was Sys admin for being closed. Its been an interesting experience.
I have no HS diploma, only an equivelancy. I have no college degree. I have been a MS MVP, and have been working in an IS role for many years now. I was lucky, not everyon can fly into the field and make a go of it. But on the flip side not everyone can go to school and learn a damn thing. I had another sys admin working with me here whose resume looked nice but he couldnt tell the difference between a windows login and a domain login, couldnt move a page file to another drive and god forbid he have to do something at a command line. Yet he was just a few test short of an MCSE.
You make the call, if you can get your foot in the door and go to school that probably the best bet.
Yes, the blonde who was responsible for reviewing the contract did not read it. She admitted yesterday she was pressured and did not have time to read it.
Umm lets see, hey boss man I dont have time to turn the cooling on for reactor 9 the guys are pressuring me to go play poker!
Clothing, hell just wait till General Motors slaps you with a bill for their cut of your last car sale!
This is the problem with treating authors of anything (books, music etc) as an artist, they immediately think they should be paid everytime thier idea is expressed to a new person.
Just wait, I heard they are going to clone Picasso soon and he will be wanting a license fee from everyone who has seen his expression on canvas.
An idea exists in your head, if you express it, it becomes an object. If you sell that object its no longer your idea but whatever was created from it.
When was the last time Pizza Hut put 140 door hanger flyers on your door knob in one day? When was the last time you had to buy extra gas just so your car could handle driving around with 140 flyers under the wiper?
Different, no, just apples and oranges.
Yep thats right, I get an average of 60 spam messages a day. So I think their estimates are aright on if not a little low.

Well lets see if we take your math further that;
333hours/mo * 12months *5 years (off the graphic you posted) = 19,980 hours total. That's Horrible! ([H]ardOCP http://www.hardocp.com had posted a graphic from IBM's documentation that said the expected life of the drive was 5 years, hence the 5 above)
Lets see WesternDigital rates their 120G at 500,000 hours on the bottom of ; http://www.wdc.com/products/current/drives.asp?Mod el=WD1200BB
Lets compare a High end, high quality drive the Cheetah X15 it has a MTBF of 1,200,000 hours!
Ok lets play fair and compare it to something a little older like it is how about a Seagate ST4766E 667meg hd circa 3/29/90 (according to the bad sector sticker on the drive). According to Seagates web site ( http://www.seagate.com/support/disc/specs/esdi/st4 766e.html ) this drive has a MTBF of 150,000 hours.
Lets try something older. How about an old ST 225, nope that's got a MTBF of 100,000 hours. http://www.seagate.com/support/disc/specs/mfm/st22 5.html
Hmmm do you think if we grind enough IBM drives up we can make some lemonade?
I had a set of these once! They were great. The only problem is they eventually losen even molly fasteners in drywall. Believe it or not the best frequency response I found was from glass.. Although I wouldnt crank it up!
Well isnt it? And if they do start pushing ads like the message mentions on interesting people, isnt that a copright violation too? Modifying a copyrighted work and redistributing it for your own profit?

My server runs both pop and IMAP and uses SMTP auth. Its not that hard to setup. I only started learning linux in november and I can do it :)
