Well there is something wrong when people believe "the cloud" is the solution. It's a misinterpretation of a concept applied. I think the marketing push for "cloud" services being sold as a end all solution for backups, security and data storage gives off the feeling from the early 2000's where websites were being sold for all the things they could deliver, which they didn't. So to say it has nothing to do with "cloud based", I agree from the technical side, but i disagree from the "cloud" concept and marketing pitch side.

dealing with people!!! " - Tom from Office Space
Cold pizza was the best . . . not to mention the 12 pack of Dr. Pepper's that started out as cold but as the night progressed . . luke warm Dr. Peppers were acceptable. Bonus Points for Little Debbie snack cakes in the mix.
I think Nintendo took a page from Sega. Sega had the cool fishing controller and if you ever played the bass fishing when the controller shook as the fish pulled you from side to side ..it was just a whole different experience.
Then they came out with the Samba De Amigo which was a pretty cool maraca game. I know you are thinking, "maracas!??" Yes, it was one of the most entertaining games we ever had. It was a family game, it was fun and again..a whole different experience.
This is what the Wii is selling. A different way to interact. And you see that growing trend with that "heavy metal guitar" controller and some other ones . . like the dance pad ..etc...
This was a great article. Especially for the script kiddies and wanna be HaXoRz.
It's great to enlighten others about the art of true technology.
Artcle included the following:
* Mystery (who wrote this)
* A Puzzle to solve (how did they come up with some a clevery solution)
* Games (Quake, Doom, 3D graphics)
* Math (Inverse Square-Root)
* History (Who's who of 3D programming, VooDoo->3dFx->nVidia)
* Lessons (Skill, Assembly Language, Research, OpenSource is good)
Kinda brought back feelings of the "Revenge of the Geeks" series by PBS, when you get to place faces, names, ideas, feelings and thoughts to technical acheivements.
This is great and all, but I found that most of the time the credit agencies don't help too much.
I've been a victim. Big whoop, you have a "Credit Fraud Victim" tag on your credit reports. That still doesn't matter, a company can still grant that credit request. You can have "Do not open any more credit accounts for this person" on your credit report and guess what, that will not stop companies from granting it.
Credit reporting companies are there to report the bad things and protect the companies that are granting credit and even then they are merely reporting a potential risk.
They do not help the consumer. REPEAT. They do not help the consumer.
I've had a "Credit Fraud Victim" label attached to all my credit reports (all 3 companies) and I have a case number with the FTC. And STILL, I get credit accounts opened up.
Nothing says frustration than doing everything that has been asked only to find out a $13,000.00 loan has been granted without you knowing and now it's in collection.
Then when you contact the company that granted the loan, they treat you as if you are a theft and have to prove you didn't request the loan. Where as my thought process is "Wait a second you sorry sack, you granted a loan and you didn't check and see if it was me and now you are saying that I am trying to trick you out of paying this, you must be nuts."
It's a very frustrating battle. This is something that happens a lot ..it's the "elephant in the room no one is talking about". . . but until it happens to you ..you will not know the frustration of having your identity stolen (or used fradulently).
Sure that would be great in the overall means ..but then you are in jail and getting reammed by Tyrone and Big Bubba even if it's for a day . . .
then you try to find a lawyer that costs money ..but you are broke (thus the reason for trying to sue and maybe cash in) . .
Sounds good and all, but you know money runs the US and any store wouldn't think twice about paying some "legal experts" to insure you stay in jail or pay for what embarassment you have caused.
..but then again.. Micheal Moore and the 2 kiddos from Columbine got K-mart to stop selling ammo in their stores in 90 days . .
Who knows . . I just think it's risky . . but hey . . it sounds so crazy ..it JUST ..MIGHT ..WORK !
Physical access IS root access !

The sarcasm is strong with this one....
No but your Ubuntu updates won't work if you upgrade pass version 11
I will agree that management just needs "a reason" to get rid of you but you don't know about the situation to make a judgement like that.

30% of female programmers agree because that's how they feel and 100% of male programmers want a sandwich.

He should have known better as a father that they would use his children as the crutch to break him.

You also forgot to mention free electricity, power with no wires, force field, and crumbling buliding with resonance frequencies . .
