As an American I can attest that most cannot even define a patent. However, I don't believe it is much better in country X either. I have been to the Middle East, Europe, etc.
I believe the patent wars will be determined by the Judiciary versus the Legislative branch because, well...Your not suprised are you?
"Seems like setting up internet service just for two days seems silly. And given the coverage map they have a small window of mobility if they want it."
As a former sailor, two days can be a lifetime to someone who spends months at sea. The ship is now equipped to receive access now anywhere where wi-fi is available, which makes this more than a one time thing.
As far as mobility goes, the ship is moored!
Being able to have this type of access while in port from your bunk is a huge quality of life bonus for these folks whether they are ported in Oregon or anywhere else wi-fi is available.
"I think what this feature will do is allow you to say instead of Dear Everyone, you can say Dear and then the computer will put each persons name in for you so they think they're getting a personal email."
For some reason I think I rather keep it or short or not write at all rather than trick my friends into thinking they are getting a *personal* e-mail. I think my friends would call me an ass.
I think that is what I like about this style. It is *unrevised* and raw. Note to email users? I don't think this guy is applying for a job. He is letting things flow to the keyborad.
"However, the open source strategy is a triple-edge sword. First, most free software such as Linux, (the most popular because of its operating system capability), comes with a license that dictates that any all development of the product (which would have been valuable intellectual property) becomes community property and must subsequently become free as well...."
So I suppose computer science is only valuable to mankind if it controlled/dicatated by a corporation?

Are you sure about this? If this is not true did you just lie to me with the purpose of discrediting my post? Can I sue you?
"Can't someone sue this Ken Brown guy for purposefully misleading the public? This has to be a crime somehow."
While I don't agree with his opinion/analysis of the impact of free software, it is exactly that, his opinin. In what court and under which law would you like to sue this guy for voicing an opinion you/we find absurd?
"How can you be making excuses about and absolute FAILURE? What happened here, plain and simple, is that they messed up, and Windows was the better choice"
An investment of 10's of _millions_ dollars is not judged a "failure" one year into it. This is long term investment.

Linux is not competing. The information and ideas contained in a Linux distribution are free ($scoJoke). The toothpaste is out of the tube. There is no going back.

Junior implies younger, and less mature, neither of which are good connotations for a webbrowser really
It is only at version 0.8 right? I had a friend who uses Windows download it last night. He definately paused when he noticed the tag 'Version 0.7'. Maybe used to hearing AOL 19.0, Windows XP, and so on.
Maybe Fire* could use their youth to their advantage. Similiar to what IBM is doing with Linux.
I would remind anyone who is inclined to think of America as an unusually heroic military force that they have never won a significant military victory without superior numbers or equipment. I don't believe any other nation in history has that distinction.
Listen to the professor instructing the class that America is the ONLY nation, in the history of all nations and battles fought, to NEVER have won a signifigant battle without superior numbers or firepower. Your hate of America has caused you to look like a pendantic ass.
"It's ironic that IBM, with its roots in the computer industry, doesn't supply the processors for the main portion of the personal computer industry. Intel does".
Oh come on. What Intel computer can you buy that has a friggen guy come with it? IBM deals with the big boys. Internation Business Machines. I don't find their lack of presense or desire in the home PC market at all ironic.
Yeah, that is a good point on the reply headers. I believe 'remove me' link is used sometimes for the spammer to verify that they have found a working e-mail versus actually removing you form the list. I do use the option in Kmail to 'bounce' any spam I receive by sending the message back to the sender as undeliverable. It does give a warning that the reply to may be forged but I usually bounce it anyways.
The difference is they don't want to sue anyone until they find out who they actually are first. Basically they don't want to get burned suing another 12 year old living in the projects again.
Hey man you need to unplug yourself from the propaganda machine. You have to be kidding *lots* of companies pressure their employees to give political contributions to Republicans. I don't think I have ever heard or read of this ever being a wide spread problem. On the other hand labor unions have always pressured their employees to back a certain canidate (which in the vast majority of cases happens to be a Democrat). In fact it got so bad a law was passed specifically outlining that your personal union dues could not be used to endore a political candidate if you did not wish them to.
So what are you saying GWB came in and changed out the entire judicial branch while nobody was looking? And the next Democratic president will do the same...you know with that secret executive order to get all of the judges out of there just like that.
I am not trying to trying to turn this into a Rep vs. Dem thing but I think you are a little off base.
It is in the process of being groklaw'd already.

KDict via WordNet defines:

"As far as I can tell, that's like saying that the people on Slashdot are dorky."
Oh...I forgot we are _just_ nerds...but NOT dorks!
Thanks for the tip. :)
I did some googling and came up with this interesting piece.

Midway: The Incredible Victory
Thanks. I did just notice the info was from way back in 2001. :)
Good catch.
Actually...I believe both are C02
I don't believe that they were always thought...or have currently verified the caps to be H20. Some have speculated that it is frozen C02.
The thing is, as you pointed out, this is not what's happening. There are in fact fewer jobs available, and the salaries are the same (ie, not lower)
U.S. jobs growth seen rolling
How does this affect people doing *security* research on MS products. If one were to find an eploit or hole would that be considered a virus?

My bank did not play friendly with Konqueror at all. However after switching the browser identification to WinXP/IE 6 it works like a charm.
