    Well, I've never heard of a court ordering someone to provide evidence that they're not guilty,

    That's because we have a right against self incrimination. However corporate entities have no inherent rights under our constitution. Only the ones that they have bought for themselves, and in this case it seems they did a little dirty work for them.

    Just curious. What liberties have you lost due to anti-terror legislation in whatever country you are living in?

    Well to paint it in broad brush strokes for you, in my estimation every amendment of the original Bill of Rights, from 4 to ten, not including 7, have been infringed in some way due to terror fever.

    And this is a very good correlation, with a known scientific model that points to causation.

    I know that, but I wasn't arguing against global warming. It just bothered me that instead of framing the model it was more like o my look at teh charts!. Or did I miss all the evidence of causation that they put in there?

    I was in Colorado for the 'cold winter 2005' until April and I think it snowed maybe 3 times and was generally mild.

    The links between CO2 and global temperature are well correlated for hundreds of thousands of years.

    That's the one thing that really bothered me about that movie. I realize that they were going for a general audience and that's why they put the CO2 charts in there because they are dramatic. But for me it hurt the movies credibility.

    The first thing I thought when I saw those charts was 'correlation doesn't equal causation'.

    I don't get it. How does anyone lose money in any way by having open hardware? Hell, if you think about it they don't even need to pay for firmware development, if the hardware is nice enough people would write it for them, people would praise them. I just can't understand the logic behind keeping these things secret.

    Sure, I understand the reason, greed, but it seems pretty foolish because I can see no gained money or protected profit.

    Hmm... I guess human rights violations only happen in the USA! I don't know why anyone wants to live here! After all, the Sudan, Somalia, Iran, China, Cuba, and North Korea are much better places to live! You don't have to worry about religious or ideological persecution there!

    The difference between the US and those other countries is that the US started off purely to protect the rights of the people, and has slowly regressed from that goal. You can research for yourself why the others exist, but obviously they weren't altruistic. As it is this post is just devil's advocate flamebait.

    Well I don't really feel a need to respond to that, since it is mostly obviously ridiculous on it's face, but I would like to point out that I violated no copyrights, and I merely have standards in the software I use. And btw, that last sentence is particularly childish and ludicrous.
    Oh and I didn't mean to be disrespectful, but I obviously came off that way because of the silly way that you laced your comment with profanity. It's just that my stupid ideology gets me pumped up sometimes. I did at least make a semi-coherent argument though, which I'm not so sure you did.

    That statement sums up why Ubuntu, and probably Linux, will never be a suitable replacement OS on most desktop systems. I'm sorry, thats not insightful, that is stupid horseshit. It's that retarded attitude that allows MS and other companies to implement DRfuckingM, and other evil Rights stomping profit protections. If you think its cool to have to call someone for permission to turn on your computer, then have fun with that. It's that attitude that allows the government to listen to your phonecalls just as long as they protect you from the 'terrorists'.
